You can thank Georgia for that. They should have beaten the breaks of that team. They called the game too conservative. People believe it validated ND being in top 12 still given the fact they gave a top 4 team all they wanted.
Another point is this. Who would you have ahead of them? 12-25 is brown water trash. Lack of options is also another thing. Peruse through 12-25 and tell me you can clearly find a better team than Notre Dame.

Penn State is the only one I can think of and I have my doubts about them.

really? was not impressed. but all is good. polls matter not. just win.

They were up 38-0 at halftime on the road at night against a P5 team. Who else has done that?

I also think LSU and Joe Burrow aren’t getting the amount respect that they earned in Texas
I think we got tons of respect. In CFB though teams become "forgotten" when they don't play for a week or play a few cupcakes.

I agree...they look scary good right now

I love how “unbiased” SEC fans are. Ohio St destroys a bad team, well that is unimpressive because Nebraska sucks. But when an SEC team dominates a “team” particularly if that team is a northern team, well that “proves” how good the SEC team is

You might as well not even pay attention to the polls until after the Alabama game. We have to win that one. And we don't have the luxury that so many other teams have of just going through the motions to get to that point because of a cakewalk schedule. We have Florida and Auburn (both top ten).

Nebraska sucks, so their win is not that impressive!

Polls are irrelevant in today's college football. It's all about winning the West to get to the SECCG and having a shot at the playoffs.
The only "poll" that matters in the Playoff Selection Committee's final rankings. That's it.

How in the hell does Ohio St pass us in the polls?
While they haven't played the schedule, they have looked really, really good.
It's not crazy.

OSU remaining strength of schedule is 45 and LSU is 7 so how do you compete year in and year out with teams like that
ESPN FPI says remaining SOS as:
OSU 19
LSU 16
Everyone has a bit of a different feel of SOS but I don't think they are that crazy different

As others have said, these polls don't matter, but if you do care about, the difference between OSU and LSU in the poll in 2 points over 61 voters.
That means that if you actually calculate the average value the voters gave them,
OSU's vote avg is 4.295 place
LSU's vote avg is 4.328 place
That's a diff of 0.033.
It's almost the same as a tie. In fact if just ONE voter had dropped OSU by 1 and raised LSU by 1, they would be exactly tied for 4th place, and if two did that LSU would be 4 and OSU would be 5.
Don't worry. There's plenty of games left. I believe BOTH of them will rise in the rankings by year's end.

I know man. It’s very difficult to round out the top 25 now a days. There just aren’t many good teams anymore. You have teams like Boise, UCF and SMU in there right now. SMU looks very good but top 25 is debatable. Boise State has looked terrible. A shell of their former self in terms of ability. They have struggled against mediocre teams. UCF just lost to one of the worst teams in the ACC. Now that’s saying something and they are still ranked.
The problem is we just never have enough games against quality opponents to justify any of it. I have no clue how good LSU is until they win the games that matter in conference. We could still be a 9-3 or 10-2 type team.
Ohio State looks very balanced. I think that’s the appeal with them. You know the talent is there at the skills spots. They don’t take a backseat to anyone in terms of talent. I think so many teams like LSU & Bama for instance aren’t very balanced right now. There defenses look very above average. Talent is there but the voters and talking heads are looking for a team that can play well on defense too.

Yep. I think it’s that simple. You take a look at Ohio State and you ask yourself would you want to play them next week?
Would you be confident in saying an LSU Bama Georgia or Auburn could beat that OSU team right now. I can’t say that with any confidence. I don’t care about the past and how Ohio State has performed in the bowl games and the playoffs. That has nothing to do with this season.
If you had to look at the month of September and ask yourself who really has improved and looked the part, I would say Auburn and Ohio State have got to be on your short list of the most compete teams in America.

Football polls are meaningless relics leftover from the era of mythical national championships. The four team (should be eight) playoff system that determines which team is champion has rendered the polls obsolete. In spite of that, many people still choose to give credence to these silly opinion polls.

You just nailed the lack of respect factor I have towards tOSU. They sail along in a weak B10 while we have to navigate top ten teams week to week. It's bullshite.
If Ohio State wants respect from this fan, play somebody ooc every year to make up for playing in a cupcake league.

LSU has already played and beaten a top 10 team, with 3 more on the schedule.
Now, tell me what tOSU has done, and their upcoming games sos in comparison to LSU's.

Common sense should tell you that's crap.

This is the problem with modern democracies. A post such as the one above should instigate an investigation resulting in a loss of your voting rights. But no, you’ll just keep going to the polls and nullifying the sober votes of sane, cultured citizens.
