I can't understand why people like RayRay don't get why labeling this "just a bar fight" and sweeping it under the rug might cause problems in the future unless he has a agenda.

I don't have a clue what happened but I think 3-4 games is enough for anyone to sit, unless JJ and Johns tried to kill the guy. I think ruining their whole season is stupid, and something I have a huge issue with society over.

Meh, Russel Shepard may miss that many games for talking to the wrong person.

It may affect his eligibility and is still screwed up, but that's a whole new series of issues to deal with.

I'm sorry but IMHO physically harming someone should be seriously looked into and have severe penalties.

Who was seriously hurt? They all went to the hospital and were released within hours. If they were seriously hurt, the hospital would not risk letting them leave.

If he went into the situation with the intention of harming someone, then definitely yes. But if the injured person was the one who started it, you can argue he intended to cause injuries, and ended up receiving them.

I just have little/no patience for someone who starts a fight and then saying they got hurt, and blaming it on the other party. Whoever the instigator is, is responsible for any/all injuries incurred, even if they are to himself. Wouldn't be a fight otherwise.

I don't think your or my patience should be the standard in deciding if charges can stick.

I doubt it even gets to a jury.

4 games, unless convicted, does sound like plenty to teach their asses a lesson.

What do you think will happen? Plea to a lesser? Does this put him back in good standing after 3 or 4 games?

I think so. It's more about setting standards as much as anything. Sitting JJ and Johns the whole season sets a bad standard IMO, and will not happen.

I agree. It's an appropriate response that sends a clear message without going overboard. Now, if they are convicted of a felony, well I think it's over anyway. Otherwise, a 4 game suspensions seems about right.

even if someone breaks a part of someones backbone by kicking them defenseless on the ground?

I just meant that they would more than likely plead to a lesser charge and get community service/probation.

If they fight it, then sure, it'll go to a jury.

You think that's the case, Roger? I'm seriously asking, not flaming.

yeah, I think I worded my response badly.

I agree with you. I don't see them fighting this thing and it getting drawn out to a jury trial. It will either be dropped or pled down and even that may take too long. I have a little experience in this area...

I certainly don't want to see these guys lose a year of their college football career over something that may have happened in a flash. Rational heads will prevail and it will get settled. I think and do hope that JJ gets to finish out his senior season this year.

Very well put.

I agree with you.
