It was a vacated win for PSU. LSU will forever have a loss in the 2010 Capital One Bowl.

Didn't realize it stayed a loss for LSU. I just removed it from the calculation all together. No win or loss.

Ah great, another fearful diatribe about how LSU can never replace Miles and is destined to fail once he leaves.

No it doesn't. It means he made a mistake which is obviously something that never happens to you. It must feel good to know something with absolute certainty so you can express your academic prowess.

Regarding the comments that decry the OP because of its mention of the Penn State game: if you read the OP, you'll notice that Slackster commented on Alabama's winning percentage with and without forfeits. He was simply making an "apple to apple" comparison. Maybe a lot of Alabama's forfeit wins should not have been considered "victories", either.

No it doesn't ... 99% of that post was factual and dead-on, but you want to discount it because of a single error?

Ron Zook had a winning record and was replaced with a better coach in CUM.

Same with Jim donnan at UGA when Richt replaced him.

winning coaches were replaced by even better coaches.

Not bashing your post but please tell the other side of this which you failed to do, It can go BOTH ways.

Thanks for the post and the work you put into it.

The old saying about, "you don't know what you have until it's gone" could certainly be true if we got rid of Miles for his bad coaching ability and replaced him with another hot name. Tennessee sure went places with Dooley.

I guess some LSU "fans" just don't remember the good ole days of Archer, Hallman, etc. We are living in the golden age of LSU football and they just aren't happy unless we win it all every year and obliterate the competition. Their attitude might say more about their lack of fulfillment in life than it does about LSU football.

Lets not forget...you lose a coach and many of our out of state recruits probably don't sign making it even tougher for a newcomer to the area and maybe to the sec.

Accounting for the Penn State forfeit, LSU has a .817 W% under Miles.

Penn State vacated that win, not forfeited. They didn't win, but LSU still lost.

ETA: I see this was already discussed.

I said it is possible. I even posted times it's worked. But Miles is certainly not a Zook or Donnan caliber coach. It is very difficult to replace someone as successful as Miles, and history shows us that most schools fail to do it on the first try.

Great post.

We will have to eventually of course, but for the time being, we are in the NC hunt every year, great recruiting class coming in and after that. Short of Harbaugh or Chip Kelly, any one else would be a crap shoot.

Agreed, but outside of the NFL or Florida, Texas, ND, or USC, I don't see Kelly leaving Oregon.

Miles is infuriating at times, but I agree that we likely could not replace the record if LSU forced him out or allowed him to go elsewhere for more $$$.

Neither Zook or Donnan had a winning record near CLM and they were mired in mediocrity. I would support getting rid of the coach if that is where we are but it is not.

I think he's gone to the NFL. I was trying to echo your point. The only guy's I'm pretty sure would do better than Les (Saban, Harbaugh, Kelly) ain't coming here, so the best option is to stick with Les.
