From his postgame interview last night:
quote:

"The difference between what you all (fans, reporters) have to do and what we have to do, what Les Miles has to do, is our decisions are final, and we have to live with the consequences. Everybody gets to second guess everything we do. And everything we do that doesn't work, is a bad decision"

Well it's objectively true for what it's worth.

they're a bunch of prima dona's, living in some what of a fantasy world, that have a flair for the dramatic, and their "decisions" have a lot less impact than decisions made by people with real jobs

Right. And the guys with real jobs sit around and go fricking batshit crazy over a game played by a bunch of kids.

I think its clear Nick would love to have Les stay at LSU for a long long time. When you own someone, you aren't likely to want them to try someone that may be better as their coach.

Exactly where in this 10 minute Interview does he make above statement? I cannot watch the whole thing on account that Saban is the most boring interview in college football. Thanks.

it's a diversion, but I don't think the majority of the rant is into the realm of "real jobs," where decisions made can have tremendous long term or permanent impact

I am not a football coach, I have a real job for a company that produces a product that none of us could live without. I do not coach a game that just serves as entertainment. I guarantee you that
I have to live with the consequences of my decisions. If I make too many wrong decisions, I will be without a job. These million dollar coaches are so insulated and naïve. They have no idea what the real world is like.

Saban might not be a great person to know, but I think he has a pretty good handle on how the business work and is able to speak honestly and fairly about a lot of things.

Saban is telling it like it is. When people were questioning him and Lane against Arky and Ole Miss, he shut them up. This is no different. I see it all the time because I look at different teams. Fans get pissed and boo the guys they once deemed so great.

OC at Clemson was getting blamed earlier this year, people praise and blame Strong after every win and loss at Texas. Sumlin is seen as a genius with how all his QBs perform, then is questioned after a couple of bad games. Pruitt loses against UF bad, now UGA fans that were slobbing his nob and calling him God, says he sucks. Etc, etc, etc.

Fans and media know nothing about what it takes to coach and win games at this level, and their mindset of the OC, DC, HC, DL, DB, QB, etc coaches changes with each win or loss.

Correct.

Picking up their rooms before Supper or taking out the Garbage is just about the extent of Rant level jobs. 75% of this board is high school and college kids without girlfriends that still live at home.

Not much here to be taken very seriously judging by the
very shallow depth of comments displayed daily.

Just mostly Sunshine Pumpers and young Message Board kids that never played Sports.

Fans and the media love to engage in something known as "results oriented" analysis.

In other words, everything that worked out great was a great decision and everything that worked out badly was a bad decision.

The real world doesn't work like that, you can make a good decision that blows up in your face or a horrible decision that fortuitously works out great.

The average mouth breather fan or the ratings grabbing sensationalistic shock jock don't care for this type of analysis though.

This is so true. Saban loves rubbing his nuts all over Lesticle's face. LSU is Bama/Saban's bitch.

What was he defending? Miles didn't call the personal foul. Miles didn't tell his kicker to shank the kickoff out of bounds. We talking On?

Saban stood up for coaches in the past at post game pressers before, specifically Dooley and Muschamp. He owns them too.

If Nick had said anything sincere complimentary of Miles when it was split, might have meant something. The man always has an agenda.
