I’m aware that the lower the sample size of games, the less accurate analytics are. A 300 rank difference is indicative of a gap in ability regardless of the small sample size.

The kenpom is not that flawed. Do I think it will be a 300 team gap as the year progresses? Surely not. But I do think you can be intuitive and make predictions even with a small sample size.

The worst part is that the football/baseball fans will be checked out for the next 5+ years and when we do finally get a good energetic coach they’ll come back.. and then nit pick the shite out of him for “piss poor defense” or “street ball offense” while he’s actually winning games. Just like they did to Wade. It’ll be nauseating.

Kenpom himself would disagree with this assessment. He would even say a one game sample size from each team is basically meaningless in any judgment.

There is Kenpom content out there outside of his site that goes into his model(s) - he's changed it over time.

Regardless, I'm not sure how old you are, but you seem to have some knowledge. But only enough to make you dangerous as we'd say in other professions. You have a lot of hard stances that hopefully you realize should be more fluid.
