I don’t think many on this board understand just how good Zy Alexander is.
Yes, he started out at SELU and came from a tiny program in Loureville, but this kid is an absolute stud. There’s a reason he’s ranked the 3rd overall corner in the portal, and honestly, if it weren’t for the competition he’d probably be higher.

It’s a really good team but for everyone to be expecting a Natty appearance in year 2 is unreasonable. I would also say that OSU has just as good and as many athletes as UGA/Bama/LSU

It all starts on the offensive line. Three of the four teams in the CFP had NFL-ready offensive lineman. I think we will as good as we have ever been there next year.

This is a pretty good breakdown but you lost me here. Zy is going to compete for on of the Corner spots. I would expect Sage Ryan and Toviano to compete for the Free Safety Spot with Major Burns holding down the other.

Someone is going to jump ahead of Lacy in that starting WR spot. He's just not consistent enough.

We are going to be really good on offense next year. Lots of weapons at WR and TE. Our OL is going to push to be one of the better lines we’ve had. My concern is defense and mostly with LB. Our secondary got shored up a bunch but we need a beast at Jack and DE. Don’t know if we have that right now. We need a couple studs besides Perkins to be on a level with UGA from a talent standpoint on defense.

FSU is building something over in Tallahassee.
No question.
But I think the counterargument from LSU's perspective is it took a blocked XP...in Brian Kelly's first game at LSU...with what will likely be the worst roster he'll have in his LSU tenure...for FSU to win. FSU then proceeded to lose to every team with a pulse they played as the season went on before their "impressive" last minute win over the worst Oklahoma team in over a decade.
They will return several good players. Including a veteran QB. They appear to have also done really well in the transfer market. They may even be the favorite to win the generally weak ACC. But forgive me if I'm not in awe of FSU relative to what I think LSU could be next season.
A. Kelly has a LONG history of success...at multiple stops.
B. He won the SEC West (generally the toughest "conference" in all of CFB) in a year his team was picked to finish 5th with it's weakest roster (though not bad) in 20 years.
C. LSU returns a ton of production. Including a 5th year starting QB.
D. LSU looks to be getting right back to where LSU usually has been in the world of recruiting.

We're going to be sizable favorites in that game and we should roll. It'll be a great win.
I don't know. I saw ESPN with their first set of rankings for next year. Georgia was 1st, Fla St. was 4th, and LSU was 8th. Not sure what that means as the season gets closer but playing a top 5 team in Orlando the first week of the season, I can't see us being sizable favorites. We have a good shot at winning but not sure if the national media or Vegas will have us as sizable favorites.

I wonder if Savion gets moved to the Jack. We have Shand, Wiggins and likely the D end usc transfer at the other D end

Next year, LSU is going to be right there with Bama and UGA. Let's look at a depth chart.
Yes. Chris Hilton. He was injured this year but is our best receiver not named Malik. Don't get me wrong, Thomas is great but he is not as versatile as Hilton.
Lacy will play though.

Exactly. Sick of the fsu Hype. They will be Formidable next year but they don’t recruit high school players well and will not be as talented overall. Also if you watched them, the qb is good but inconsistent as well. Norvell sucked years 1 &2. The media want them back so the hype machine is in action.

I'd say right under them. But not far off. But UGA's talent pool is absurd.

You could go a bunch of different ways with this, and it's possible that Brooks could stay at free safety while Zy is an outside corner and maybe they use Chestnut at the nickel.
But I've been looking back through Kelly's history at places where he's been and trying to find patterns on how he selects and uses players, and the comp I keep coming back to on Zy is Justin Hamilton who was on Kelly's last Notre Dame team as the free safety. Tall, rangy ballhawk who covers a ton of ground and disrupts the downfield passing game greatly by just being everywhere.
Zy did that a lot at Southeastern even playing corner.
And with us getting Chestnut over the weekend, you're sitting on two ELITE corners with him and Harris, and now you have enough corners behind them that you can maintain a rotation without having to use Zy in there. That frees him up to play where some of the NFL draft stuff I've seen has projected him.
But you could restructure the depth chart in the secondary a few different ways and it would still look good. We have a TON of quality people back there now, and the great thing is that other than Banks, Brooks and Chestnut (I suppose Burns and Zy might break out and go pro, but that isn't guaranteed), we're going to bring all of them back for 2024.
We're loaded. We have four spots to fill, and I'd fill them with LB's and offensive linemen, but even at those positions your top end players are pretty solid.

Are you suggesting that none of these players will enter the transfer portal between now and the beginning of Fall practice.

I'm going by what's on the roster right now.
I'm not projecting anybody we haven't signed or committed, and I'm not projecting anybody to leave.
I could easily run off 3-4 more players, but I'm assuming everybody still on the roster as of right now wants to be a Tiger and will stick with us.
What I would say is that Kelly has proven so far that whatever he's going to lose, he'll replace if not get better.
