If tweet fails to load, click here. According to reports, the details of the mid-air drama have emerged: the co-pilot—acting as an attacker—began stabbing the captain in an attempt to seize control of the plane and crash it, with its passengers on board, into Israeli territory.
The captain resisted and activated distress signals. Flight attendants attempted to enter the cockpit, while Israeli passengers who realized what was happening forcibly broke in, subdued the co-pilot, and removed him from the cockpit. The captain, having sustained multiple stab wounds, was incapacitated.
Miraculously, two Israeli pilots were on board flying back to Israel; they were the ones who landed the aircraft, which otherwise would have crashed. "A great miracle happened to us today," said one of the passengers.

Nor the fact that it descended over 14,000 feet and in a spin that sheared the tail rudder completely off. As a result El Al is offering all Israeli’s in a predominantly Muslim countries an alternative option to return to Israel. Evidently Dubai and Malaysia are big travel spots for Israel.

Probably not a spin, the descent rate put it around 600+ Knots. Max speed is far lower than that on that aiframe. Thats an overspeed flutter situation that couldve ripped the entire fin and rudder off. If that happened game over. Think AA flight 587 over Queens

This is the kind of story that I don't believe actually happened unless there is video footage of it actually happening. And even then I would look at it sideways.
