He went to lsu and lsu law. Always involved in student body life and dresses up for lsu games as LSU Elvis. Recently ran for state rep and won. I don’t really have a problem with him but a lot of people think he’s a tool. He definitely has a “shtick.”

McMakin was the PA announcer for men's basketball last season and, frankly, did fine. The reality is ANYONE who took over for Borne was going to be subject to scrutiny just like when Borne replaced Sid Crocker after 30 years on the job.
It's not going to be the same not hearing Borne's voice in TS anymore (though you didn't hear it last year either), but that's the nature of the business. Change will eventually come. And it's not like it is a big enough job to warrant some sort of exhaustive search. It's always been just a local guy taking the role. Crocker was a newscaster at WAFB. Dan Borne started at WAFB for a few years, then moved into private industry. There's really no "resume" for the job.

I don’t care about anything but what his voice sounds like. As long as he has a stoic/intimidating voice, which are the qualities that make a great football PA announcer, that’s all that matters.

Go look at Sid Crocker and Borne's resume before they go the LSU job. They didn't exactly have "worldly PA" experience. FWIW, McMakin actually has LSU PA experience (mens basketball)
I'm not quite sure what anyone is looking for? It's the PA announcer. It's a VERY part-time job

This reeks of Huey P Landry forcing LSU to install his guy. McMakin has been a Landry sycophant his entire time in office and was all in on the Omar stunt. Now we’re stuck with him for 30 years.
