Respectfully disagree. LSU put up excellent offensive numbers in 2007 and Miles ran an open offense in 2008, probably too open with J. Lee. Had RP been running that offense in 2008, I am as convinced today as I was back then that 8-5 in 2008 is more like 11-2 at worst.

He said it best at the 8:20 mark: getting kicked off the team hurt more back then than it does now, because it was something that had to happen for him to be a better man.

Great interview. He seems like an incredibly mature guy now and he has definitely grown up. I feel like he would be a great guy to bring in and talk to the new freshmen each fall to keep them on track.
I finally got to watch this just now. It's so hard as fans to keep in perspective how these are just over-grown boys thrust into a situation that almost all of us could never handle properly.

I'm glad he has turned out like he did and this interview tickled me pink.

I also seem to remember a segment on WAFB in the lead up to the title game which featured a young, disabled/ill LSU fan who was granted the surprise "wish" of meeting Perrilloux. He was absolutely freaking out. Does anyone else remember that?

Wow, finally a good-newz story in this crazy-arse world. Way to go, Ryan.

Imo, if Perrilloux had played 2008-2009 he would've been prepared for the NFL. Probably still be playing.

Being a great father is much better than being a great quarterback. Glad he turned his life around.

My best friend's wife was the store mgr in Gonzales where RP's girlfriend worked as a sales clerk. Girlfriend said that when he was away from his neighborhood friends, he was the perfect boyfriend who never got in trouble. But, whenever his buddies were around, more & more as the season went on, he would revert back to his old ways & did whatever his "posse" did. That Jan. morning when the team had its first team meeting, when he would have been the potential new starting QB, he over slept because he had been out with his buddies till 4:00 a.m. He then had the first of many suspensions.

RP would have been fine under crowton actually. People also forget Les had 3 QBs start in the NFL. I think he gets a bad rap when you consider the history of the program before last season.

From everything I have read and seen he never was a “bad guy”. He just did a bunch of minor things that added up to one big thing. Glad he’s doing well for himself.

RP is a great example of the lack of parenting in some societies.
Thankfully it seems he has finally overcome his lack of good parenting.
I wish him and his family the best.

miles didn't really clam up until later. the offense wasn't exactly groundbreaking, but he wasn't so conservative in his early years.

something broke in him
