Yes, the president of the university is going to grovel for money from local politicians. That's his job.

But you have no idea what he's done or the types of schemes he's employed to force out anyone that opposes him. Anyone that puts LSU first, instead of King's personal agenda, is antagonized and targeted for removal.

Yet you think you've got it all figured out after watching 3 minutes of a Youtube video.

F'KING A used our football program as a political ploy. So, he'll never have my support. He doesn't get what Emmert clearly understood about the link in success of football/donations/enrollment. Bama sure gets it and is reaping the benefits.

We need fresh leadership top to bottom.

Are you suggesting we bring back the short side option?

I appreciate this video. I wish he understood how sports can raise the profile of a university, much like Alabama.

The guy that couldn't figure how how to explain to the general public that the money for miles' buyout was coming from privately raised funds and not the state budget gets it?

Yea, I don't think so.

not sure why he keeps getting lumped into JA and EO fire threads, he's not nearly as responsible as the other two.

Oh, but he is.

Alexander vetoed the firing of Miles at the end of the 2015 season due to optics.

That forced Miles to not be fired until during the 2016 season. Supposedly, Fisher to LSU was a done deal in 2015, but because Alexander balked, he decided to stay by the time the vacancy was made in 2016. This forced us to compete with Texas for Coach Herman with UT being his dream job.

Alexander f&%ked the coaching search by delaying it unnecessarily.

Not to mention his spearheading of parking reforms that have f&%ked campus for students and fans alike.

Not to mention his idiotic "boy crying wolf" about financial issues at the University which have turned the legislature's heart to stone to the point that even LSU alums want to cut the university's budget out of spite. Not to mention his handling of the so-called "hazing" death which will likely turn out not to be hazing related at all. Not to mention his hiring of a Dean of Diversity. Not to mention his insanely dangerous "financial exigency" comment which likely drove away many potential recruits while completely destroying the university's reputation nationally.

F. King, in his war against the "party school" label and against potential state budget cuts has ended up making the school a laughing stock academically, severely declined the campus experience for students, annihilated tailgating, destroyed the competitiveness of both the football team and the academic departments, and resulted in massive cuts to LSU and TOPS which will only further destabilize the university's very foundation.

I cannot imagine how a president could have done a worse job at LSU.

He explained that to the dumb rep. in the link

quote:

No university funds would have been used to buy out Miles’ contract. However, Alexander, who has been a tireless advocate of increased state support for higher education, says many in the general public—and even the Legislature—fail to understand that distinction.

“The public at large really doesn’t differentiate where the money comes from,” he says. “No matter how you explain it, it’s still a $15 million to $25 million decision that needs to be factored into the overall equation.”

I've had and still have multiple family members employed by LSU over the past 7 decades. While it may not be his intention and he may truly love LSU, he currently has it in a very bad situation financially. The academics are floundering and they are having a vry difficult time filling positions with quality people.

If Clinton had won the election, Alexander would be gone. He would have left for a spot in her administration.
