They aren't saying that wrong stuff didn't happen, just that NCAA rules do not govern how sexual assault cases are handled by the schools. I guess if this had been Title IX it would have been different. Weird to see the NCAA just continuing to admit time after time that they actually don't have any real sway over college athletics.

In the Baylor situation it was not, because the problem was so widespread that the NCAA couldn't identify it as impermissible benefits to male student athletes. Here's their statement on it:

quote:

"The panel found that those instances of non-reporting did not constitute impermissible benefits to football student-athletes because of a campus-wide culture of nonreporting," the NCAA said in a release. "That culture was driven by the school's broader failure to prioritize Title IX implementation, creating an environment in which faculty and staff did not know and/or understand their obligations to report allegations of sexual or interpersonal violence. Because the culture of non-reporting was not limited to cases involving student-athletes, the panel could not find that these instances resulted in impermissible benefits."

This is exactly what the recent report by the law firm concluded about LSU.

The more admissions like this will bring the sooner collapse of the NCAA. I think it is funny that people think that just because they have only ever known the NCAA that there wont ever be a change.

My personal opinion is that when change does come, Mark Emmeret has nothing to do with whatever entity is created.

If only there was another institution with near unlimited resources that does have legal authority to prosecute sexual assault... If only.

Why does anyone think the NCAA should be involved in investigating this?

It sounds like you are contradicting yourself here. The NCAA did not do anything because these issues were Title IX related. NCAA does not have much jurisdiction over Title IX - federal law does. As I read the article the NCAA would only get involved in this issue if it were an athletes only issue. Baylor's was not and similarly LSU's was not limited to athletes only.

The report does not excuse Briles' behavior. It in fact condemns it. But the NCAA can't do anything about it.

The man is a cheating, conniving, rules-loophole-obsessed psychopath. And make no mistake -- the gang rapes and recruiting of rapists at Baylor did occur, and that's all on Briles.

If we were to hire a slimeball like this, women would attack us and we'd be scorned in the national news, even FOX. It would look exponentially bad on the heels of our own Guice, et al, problems.

Art Briles is poison in college football, and anyone who loves LSU who thinks hiring him is a good idea needs to examine his own set of values and morals.

The only psychopath here is you. You’re a grown man accusing a bunch of kids and someone you don’t even know of being rapists.

There’s no proof. You have no proof. No one went to jail. The two cases that went to court were either thrown out or overturned.

How can you have an entire football team gang raping women and zero evidence, convictions, etc in the state of Texas…which is literally a state where if a girl says it happened and even if there’s no evidence, you’ll be found guilty.

You are a sick, deranged frick still accusing these kids of rape…

And they shouldn't because sexual assualt is a criminal issue to be handed over to the police and the courts. The victim has to begin to realize this. Schools can't know and don't know what is in the mind of the students. The only legal authority to deal with this should be the police and the courts, IMO.
