Exactly. The number of people who talk like Woodward is some idiot who doesn’t know What he’s doing is mind boggling. Orgeron is done folks.

Orgeron is only getting fired if we lose a certain number of games this season. Period. If the cause thing was really happening on its own, it would have happened in the off-season.

Now the way the team looked Saturday, it’s likely he doesn’t survive depending on where that number of losses is for Woodward. But this isn’t happening if by some miracle he turns it around and wins 9 games.

7 wins or fewer and I think O is gone. 8 could go either way. 9 or above and there’s no way in hell the admin makes a move on him. The only way I think this changes is if the NCAA hits us hard with combined basketball/football penalties, but I don’t think that’s likely at this point, either.

I would be surprised if we improve enough to win more than 7 games, but it has to play out.

Did you say LSU should be able to do better than the coach at Michigan State?

The thing is this for Orgeron. He’s a NC winning coach at LSU - his dream school in his home state. Coming out guns ablaze against LSU if it has character-destroying goods on him isn’t in his best interest. He won’t be invited back in 2029 for the 10th anniversary of the greatest team in LSU history. Instead of a revered coach he’ll be hated by LSU and its fans. He loses any legacy there’s to be had.

Unless he just wants to try to bulldog his way into the full $21mil, which seems a losing proposition that hopefully any competent attorney would point out to him, he has very little incentive to fight LSU. But he IS Ed O and doesn’t always make the best decisions.

There are still a LOT of folks who worship Ed O, who don’t read LSU message boards, who may never know about his indiscretions if he goes quietly. I’d imagine he’d prefer it stay that way.

Approach him with the evidence and a well thought out plan that allows both parties to move on gracefully. Hell, allow him to resign because of some health issue, or a desire to spend time with his Mother... plenty of options.

This preserves his legacy at LSU, puts cash in his hands that allows him to retire gracefully, and sets up his kids for the future. And LSU moves on to a new regime.

The only issue with Napier is this - what you really want is a guy who has built something twice. Either he's been at two different places and built a program, or he's been at the same program and built it, then had all his original guys graduate and he's either sustained his program or took a hit and then rebuilt.

Napier has only been at ULL. He's built it; they weren't in terrible shape when Hudspeth left but he's definitely improved that program, but he hasn't built and rebuilt there yet.

A guy like Campbell has done it at Toledo and then at Iowa State and he's kept it going at Iowa State. That tells you he's for real.

The built-twice rule is a good one. It weeds out a lot of Tom Hermans and Curley Hallmans. I'm not saying Napier isn't qualified or that he'd be a bad hire, but I am saying that if you can find somebody who's done it more than once they should go ahead of Napier on the list.

On the contrary, while our football program was better than the shape Jerry Baldwin left it in, it fundamentally was worse off when Hud left than where Bustle left it.

Many of us Cajuns fan, myself included, didn't see it, or wanted to see it, the first 2-3 seasons because he was getting us to 9-4 and winning bowl games. We'd never experienced anything like that before, short of some of the older fans during a Brian Mitchell season and possibly a Delhomme-led season (no bowl game, because those were much fewer back then).

But all the while Hud was burning every damn bridge Bustle had built or at least partially reconstructed with Louisiana coaches and the good discipline Bustle had instilled in the locker room would soon vanish as well. Hud benefited from that his first few seasons, because he had guys Bustle recruited who, while maybe not as talented as some that Hud brought in, just about every one of them had the heart and mindset to run through a damn brick wall for whomever their head coach was. So when Hud brought the rah rah, Hold the Rope stuff, those guys actually did it. Then when you had more of Hud's guys in there and no real discipline instilled (Rusty Whitt had left for Texas Tech), you saw it fall apart in the locker room.

So in fact, Billy Napier had his work cut out for him coming in. This is why I thought the hire of him was maybe out of the blue, because I was thinking Brent Pry (Penn State's D Coordinator) with roots in Louisiana would be the one to come in and work to rebuild those relationships close to home. But Napier took that job on and did it fantastically, of course he had a couple other local-ties guys on his staff to assist with that, and it happened a hell of alot faster than I would have expected.

Same reason they were all in on Herman. Napier is the flavor of the day.

UL not in terrible shape when Napier took over after Hud? WTF dude. It’s hard to imagine our program being more of a mess after Hud, and if you don’t know that you don’t know anything about us.

He’d be the early favorite in Vegas. Just makes too much sense unless you can buy a Meyer or Rhule, which isn’t too likely.

He lost last week, he is a loser. Get a coach that has never lost or just let the team go uncoached. Never hire a loser.
Same with the coordinators....if they have ever lost a game, don't hire them.
