Before a practice recently, a staffer who spent time at Alabama was asked how Napier and Saban differ. He thought for a minute, then another, then shook his head in defeat.

"One guy coaches offense and the other coaches defense," he says. "That's it."

Treat yourself to the ESPN article

We need effective command and control. We need a guy with high football IQ who is detailed oriented. Someone who knows LA and can deal with the power brokers. Napier wants full control a la Saban.

Cut the head off the snake and raise the sail on this adrift ship with Napier at the helm.

This is your guy, Woodward.

Didn’t he lose last game? USL should fire him.

That’s not the point. The point is holding together the 22 class:

Was he favored to win?

Does he hype up his own team only to come out playing like crap?

Does he make bad hire after bad hire?

Does he embarrass his university and its fans repeatedly?

I didn’t think so.

Home run hire! LSU would be a juggernaut for year with him as HC.

Hell no. Give me lane kiffin over him any day of the week. No more CEO type coaches. Need someone that has a long track history of developing Heisman worthy qbs and innovative offenses.

I hope not, LSU should be able to do better than the coach at UL, but who knows how far the program will have fallen by the time O is shitcanned.

He’s done a great an amazing job building the program but he’s not a great in game coach imo.

Makes very questionable calls. The App St game last year was one of the worst coached games I’ve seen in a while. Amazing they won

I don’t get it either. Should he get a look? Absolutely. Should he be the number 1 target? No.

Meh. What is the difference between hiring Napier and the devil you already know in Dave Aranda? Both are smart and can take one side of the ball, if needed. Both seem organized and would likely run the program well. Both are polished communicators. We don’t know if Napier can be any better as a recruiter than Dave is. Dave has a lot more experience living in the P5 day in and day out, though.

I wouldn’t be disappointed with either. I would rather have either than Jimbo, as both are younger, would definitely cost less, and would likely run modern offenses, which we know Jimbo never will.

However, as much as I can’t stand Kiffin as a person, I would have him higher on the list than any of these guys, purely for one reason. Not only can he take the lead on one side of the ball, and do it on a championship level, but he can recruit. We KNOW for a fact that he can recruit on the level this program is used to. The unknowns there with Aranda and Napier put them a step behind him for me.

Good, so you want Kiffin now?
From one con man to the next?
What is his average stay as HC at a school?

Do yall not realize that Napier had USL in the Top 20?
Think about that. USL/UL-L/SWLAJC@L ranked higher than LSU.
That's a certified Miracle Worker. Get him in here with a competent DC and you'll have Championships soon.
