Isn't it logical to maximize our talent by starting Myles and thus avoiding any transfers by either of them? Besides CEO can pull Myles anytime if does not make the grade!

I think it does and Myles has waited his turn . My only problem with Mr.Brennan is his pocket awareness he has to get better in that area immediately

not very logical at all really

You start who gives you the best chance to win. It is not logical to hinder your team to keep a guy that would ideally remain on the bench as a just in case.

Whoever the coaches think are great and it’s not a political decision is fine by me.

Also, we have Walker Howard incoming who is putting up insane workout numbers on top of having Nuss here already.

Both will play depending on the opposition and the matchups that best suit each kid.

There is a very real potential for transfer of one of them is not happy

If Myles doesn't "make the grade", what does the record look like before making the change. Will it even matter then?

Myles is the starter… he was killing it last year… better arm. More experience… we better have the best OL we have had in a while with everyone returning.. Myles is the starter but Max is a great backup

I don’t totally disagree with your basic premise about not hindering your team. I would say, it’s a long season that isn’t made up of just one game.

For that matter, you could look at the long term view of the program as well.

I’ve always tended to believe if the competition was close between two QBs, you generally go with the younger player as the starter, giving him more 1st team reps cause you will have him longer.

But there is also some value in depth, loyalty, “not losing your job because of injury”, etc.

I hope Coach O would not make Brennan believe he would have a chance to start in order to keep him around.

That depends on your objective. If your objective is to win you play the best guy
If it’s more of a football club with friends, well.. maybe then you would do what’s nice for everyone so no ones feelings were hurt.

Happy Feet and a sitting duck in the pocket. That is not going to change after 5 years. Same issue for years and it never improved.
Let him transfer.

a coach will play the guy that gives the team the best chance to win. They don't worry about whether a guy might transfer or not.

Whoever runs the offense best in Fall Camp will be the starter. Imho, last year will be a non-factor in Orgeron/Peetz's decision.

Let him keep waiting if Max is the best QB. He can wait his turn 2 more years until Max is a 1st rounder.

Correct, but I am of the opinion you do not weaken your plan A to bolster your plan B. Plan A is Plan A for a reason, start the best player

If the long term outlook of your program is substantially changed for the worse because your backup QB transfers, I'd suggest you have more significant issues

So you're saying Ed O should start Myles Brennan not because he is the best QB to lead Jake Peetz's offense but because he may transfer.

Let me ask you a question, are you going to cut Ed O some slack when he inevitably loses games because Myles is starting to prevent him from transferring? Or are you going to call for his head?

By the way, how do you know Max Johnson will get hurt like Myles did last year? Did you have a premonition of something?

Whether or not a QB will or will not transfer if he doesn't win the starting job is not a factor in the equation period. The only factor that matters is to play the best QB and the one that gives LSU the greatest possibility to win.

In event, Ed O said on WWL a few weeks past that he and everyone in the locker room already knows who the starting QB will be. Thus, if everyone knows, then so do Myles Brennan and Max Johnson.

Moreover, Max Johnson has already said that if he doesn't win the starting job that he is not transferring. Therefore, if Myles is going to be the starting QB, Ed O would have named him already and brought him to SEC Media Days, as opposed to Austin Deculus. However, obviously Myles will not be the starting QB and that's why Ed O didn't bring Myles to SEC Media Days with him.

In any event, obviously Myles will not transfer out until the end of he 2021 season. How do I know? Because Myles would have transferred out already. Obviously, Myles will remain the backup and collect his NIL money until the season ends. Then he will hit the transfer portal and transfer either to Ole Miss or Baylor.
