Agree with the thoughts on the UF game. O had the team in a position to win the game multiple times.

UF won the game the same way Les used to win; ball control, run clock, and try to keep it close down the stretch.

He mishandled the LF7 situation, but Jackson has been a disappointment all year and had two major screw ups and BDP's special teams shut the bed again.

Alleva botched the search, but I'll judge O after he's got "his" guys in place and has had time to install his idea of how the program should be run.

He may be an idiot, but we fired Miles for those very types of losses

We fired Miles for his lack of creativity and inability to develop a QB and an offense that could move the chains after several years of doing the same thing over and over. That wasn't a problem against Florida. Giving up a long TD pass, a RB not knowing where to run and holding on to the football was the problem.

Ask yourself: IF LSU had won vs Florida, would you be nearly as upset about hiring Coach O?

Yep

The rest of your "logic" amounts to pointing to a failed five star athlete and using him to argue recruiting five star athletes Is no big deal

i'm sure you will never let this go either. if coach O wins a national championship this will still be true.

who gives a rats arse what other schools want? they are not any smarter than us. Tejas picked Charlie Strong; I bet they wished they had O. how about Georgia, they didn't want O and they are fricking dieing. I could go on.

I upvoted your post, but I don't agree with your "Was Coach O the one who _______ on the field?" logic.

He's a coach. Not a player. So of course he's not going to give up a touchdown, or fumble, or go the wrong way on the last play.

A coach IS responsible for preparing the players for these situations. And at times, it seemed the players were not properly prepared - particularly the last play of UF game.

That being said, O is our guy now, and I am behind him 100%. I do think that he is going to do well as HC, but don't act like the head coach shares no responsibility for a player's shortcomings on the field.

Jesus dude we are talking about the FLorida game.

Players, no matter how great they are, shouldnt dictate whether they play or not. The coach needs to be the coach. Miles and O have shown that they will cave in and listen to their star player.

You think Saban would be trotting out his star player if he knew he was hurt? No

If Saban's hurt star player came to him and said "I can play", yeah, I guarantee you Saban would play him.

We ran 71 plays, Leonard got the ball on 12 of those plays. To act like him playing was the reason we lost that game is just asinine.

Had he touched the ball 19 times he would've had 19 yards less than Guice. That had nothing to do with the outcome of the game.

Jesus H Christ, when the frick are people going to stop using his tenure at Ole Miss against him? That was a long time ago and Coach O has obviously taken his failure and learned from it... look at his interim job at USCw and here. The man has grown and learned alot from his time with the Rebels, his teams may have sucked but he sure as hell recruited well and the coach after him had a ton of talent at his disposal...

give the man a GodDamn chance and let's see what he can do. He's already kept Aranda, let's see if he can pull Kiffin or another great offensive mind and let's win us some championships!

The number of people on this board who think being an interim HC is remotely similar to running a program is truly mind boggling.

I think youre wrong here. Saban wouldnt allow a 20 year old to dictate a decision like that.

There is a reason why he is the goat coach and LSU wont win the west until he is either gone or we stumble upon a new coach after O that gets it.

I do recall the whole thing. You can blame a player on every bad play or lack of mental execution. The fact that the one guy getting the ball, after a timeout, didn't know where he was going is inexcusable. He was also pumping the crowd up on 3rd down in an ignorant fashion. During the timeout the coach should have calmed him down and repeatedly discussed the play. Does Guice deserve a portion of the blame? Of course. But don't kid yourself that 80% of this board wouldn't have been hammering Les on the exact same scenario. Also how quick we are to forget that was the 11th straight run play from inside FLA 10 yd line. Those 3 drives resulted in 3 pts.

Yeah,.....that was the coaches fault. Let's blame the coach for the offensive line's inability to gain 12 inches with 2 plays to get it done too.

How do you know he learned from it?

He took an absolutely loaded LSU team, that was primed for a playoff run, and beat up on shitty teams(tied with southern miss at halftime btw), lost to a 14 point dog at home, and got shutout by Bama at home.

Im not going to link his stint at USC because it was the exact same shite.

There is exactly no evidence that he has learned anything besides him telling you he did. One thing he did learn is how to politic like hell to get the job he wants.

can we blame the coaches for lack of creativity of play calling?

or are we not allowed to blame the coaches for anything anymore?

Agreed the O line deserves blame too. I never said they didn't. Do you think the difficulty scoring may have somewhat been influenced by 11 straight run plays while near the goal line on the last 3 drives?

I don't think O is entirely to blame as I've stated. OP and yourself seem to think he should be credited with having them in the game and at no fault for the L, which is just foolish.

This board has turned miserable. I picture half of it as 15 yr olds whining because they didn't get their new toy and the other half yelling at their wife, drinking a tall boy beer, and complaining about the cable company cutting off service because they didn't pay the bill.
