My only request for next year: run some plays from under center.

You know, like on the goal line. Or when it’s fourth and inches. The shotgun bullshite in those situations is ridiculous. It told me they hadn’t practiced a QB sneak and didn’t trust the snap exchange.
That said, I’m glad JD is back. He is the man.

Yea, it's maddening to watch a team only need 1 yard and line up the qb 4 yards off the ball.
I get that the I form power run offense is a thing of the past but geeze a qb sneak under center is 99% guaranteed to get 1 yard when needed.

If you are going to do it, you need to do it as a regular part of your offense. It doesn’t seem like it but everything changes from qb steps to the timing of plays. You can’t just jump into it and expect it to be smooth

If it is practiced, it will be fine.

That is a HUGE pet-peeve of mine. And we are far and away not the only team that runs out of shotgun in short yardage - but that don't make it right.

Definitely. You have to be able to execute a QB sneak.

Can run some good play action under center

For sure, but what do you take time away from? Only so many hours in a day and you can’t be great at everything. So many teams got away from pro style offenses because there was so much stuff to it and so much to learn and know. The Revolution of offensive football is rooted in the simplicity of what offenses do these days giving guys a ton of practice getting really good at a couple of things

There have been two quarterbacks that could be counted on for short yardage from the shotgun formation - Tim Tebow and Cam Newton. That is just about it. The rest should be under center.

This. And defer every FN time!

Nah, let's continue to run zone read on every single 4th and 1.
Especially when facing elite Dlines.

In addition, Cain always needs to be our short yardage back.

You're practicing one play. Literally take 2 minutes from practice couple times a week and run it a couple times.
Absolutely asinine not to have a sneak in the playbook.

99% is a stretch but yes it is more efficient probably.

JJ Watt himself has said that it is nearly impossible to stop a QB sneak when the offense needs to gain a yard or less.

absolutely. matt canada stressed this also. some of the best PA comes from ACE formations. love the gun to buy time and make them defend pass more but ACE formations are good from time to time also. keep them guessing.

I get why it seems that simple but it’s really not.
Can you imagine this place the first time lsu fumbled from under center at the 1 yard line?
I’m not against it I’m just saying if you go under it needs to be a part of what you do all the time

College offenses almost never run from under center. It’s not just an LSU thing. It’s across the board. As stated above, there’s only so much allotted time to practice. Every new thing takes time away from something else. And college offenses are predicated on simplicity. Running from under center is an entirely new set of techniques that would need to be practiced repeatedly, every week, just in case you need it. I’m not saying they shouldn’t, but I understand why they don’t.

The QB sneak works.. All you have to do is watch the NFL a little to see that. To not have it in your offense is lazy to me

Especially when it’s 4th and an inch!!!
