My 84 year old dad plays the TV at 140 decibels.

Old man can’t hear shite. And if I ask him to turn it down, I hurt his feelings.

Talk in a low calm voice and when he can't hear you, he may get the idea of the TV being too loud lol, or just holler "huh? What?" when he says something to you

Losing hearing happens a lot in the elderly. They become targets for the hearing aid scam. Help him out with a non blue tooth, non programable 8 channel over the ear aid for 250 bucks. Keep it simple as he thinks slower also.
Or you can have him spend your inheritance on the 4000 dollar model at Sams/Costco.
They all fail in 6-12 months and reordering a low cost simple is far more satisfying than having Costco/sams send your 4000 item off for several weeks for repair

For about eight years I lived in dread of my cell phone ringing. It seemed like every time I turned around one of my parents had fallen, one of them was in the ER, etc. You get accustomed to it and it becomes the new normal. I didn't realize how stressful all that worrying was until it was over. I miss my parents like crazy and I would do it all over again but it was a hell of a grind.

That’s hilarious, I’m at my 87y/o mother’s house, right now, and it’s the same…
She plays it so loud, one of the speakers on the TV is blown…
She says her TV has a great picture, but sounds like shite, I have to constantly explain to her what happened to it..

as for TV, she just turned on the captions for TCM or Fox News and she was happy

Father in law's place is like an incinerator and he watches westerns all day at 140 decibels.
