sure, but it was forbidden and therefore conducted under the table, which at least discouraged the practice. Now that it's legal, it's going to be feeding frenzy with big money flying everywhere.

As big a problem is the transfer, now without the 1-year waiting period.

The combination of NIL + transfer with immediately play is what's horrific for the game.

It's now just free agency, with players going to the highest bidder.

You may like that, but I sure don't.

So, I started this thread, and I just want to be clear. Yes, I DO long for the days of yore when you played for the ole Whatsamatta U with pride. I do long for the days when kids were thrilled to get that offer from their childhood favorite university, and play for their dream school. I do long for the days when love of the game was paramount.
I totally understand that these kids were being exploited for monetary gain by their universities, and other than tuition and under-the-table money, that was all they were gonna get.
It is not right that someone can profit from your image, and effort, and you not receive your due. So the not wanting NIL issue, for me, is not an issue. They deserve to be compensated.
It's the transfer portal, COMBINED with NIL, that is causing the chaos. This is bordering on greed.

I gotta agree. I’m older than you and college Football, specifically LSU football is the only sport I follow. It pains me to see what this sport is becoming. Nil and the transfer portal has to be modified and quickly

I like how getting a free ride to college to play football to showcase that you may be good enough for the NFL is considered so horrible for the players.

Spare me. It’s not their job. They don’t like it, they can join everyone else and quit playing to go find whatever job they can.

But this NIL crap is the end of college football as we all know it. And it ain't good. Honestly, it ain't good for the athletes, either. It further ingrains the entitlement mentality that these kids are raised in, and coddled with, from middle school.

Yeah, talented athletes weren't coddled 20, 30, 40 or 50 years ago.

It’s so fricking easy for you to sit here and talk a big game from the sidelines. I’d love to put millions of dollars in front of you and see what type of decisions you would make. My whole point is stop being so damn negative and celebrate the kids that gave their all to lsu to play in that bowl game.

No one says you have to be a lsu fan. Go root for your local community college for all I care.

g that either you didn't attend a university or have put a child through one.

Your little business student wasn’t making the university 100’s of millions of dollars, either.

Go read all my post. You took EVERYTHING he said and zeroed in on one statement like he was talking about the game. That’s why your arse was downvoted so much. I can’t help you’re a kid.

I got my degree and have made millions and have donated a large sum of money to LSU.

I HAVE NO PROBLEMS PAYING ALL ATHLETES. ALL.

I have no problem having it tied to incentives like GRADUATING.

I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THR TRANSFER PORTAL IN HOW IT WORKS. THERE CANT BE COMPLETE FREE AGENCY WITHOUT CONTROLS. Make them sit out.

frick off.

the university's football team makes the university $100m.

Players, coaches, and administrators come and go, but the university's football program remains the revenue draw.

That is a silly, ignorant point. LSU football is nothing without players

Not ignorant. As he said, players come and go. The program is bigger than any coach, any player. These guys are auditioning to make millions of dollars. Something that many much smarter people don't get a chance to do. Spare me the poor players.

Agree with slot of your points about the game itself but I thought the team played pretty Firing good considering how many were out ! But yeah
"ANIL" Will ruin the game, it was way better when we ANIL"d under the table ! Lol, remember the Fournette car dealership ? Now don't get me started on transfer shite ??. Also I was thinking last night about back in the day how almost Every Player for LSU was from LA. I think either 100% should be from in state or at least a large percentage. I mean ever since I moved from LA. I have pulled from EVERY LOUISIANA SCHOOL ! Yes Tulane too, especially since both my parents went there and my Grandma lived a block from the old Tulane stadium. That place rocked ! I use to park cars in her yard for 5-10 bucks a piece back in the early 70s...that was good money looking back on it. When LSU came to town my Grandma told me how mean and obnoxious LSU fans were so when they asked me to make sure their car wasn't blocked in, oh I made sure, LMAO ! It wasn't until my first LAU game in TS that I said "No wonder LSU fans are loud, mean, and obnoxious, THIS IS GREAT ! That was in late 70s, been a LSU fan ever since ! But like I said, the Green Wave, All directional schools etc. I pull for. I've been in MS since 75 and I do not pull for any ms school and al should be a big part of the Gulf ??

Nope. This ain’t it

CFB is a business & always has been. Making money of the backs of players. The program doesn’t run without players, are Tuesday night showed. A team of bad players gets you nothing

I agree with the bulk of your post but you cant really make that conclusion from that game. That was basically our jv team out there
