Are they giving up walks, yes, but it’s not bad.

Not bad? They’ve walked more batters than anyone in the SEC. They’ve also thrown the most wild pitches and hit the third most batters.

So basically stop swinging for the fences and trying to have those “holy shite!” hits.

We need more team baseball and do what the team needs and less look at me homers.

Short of it is we need more players worried about what’s best for the team

I 100 percent get what he is saying about needing to have his guys developed here over time but......vast majority of the starters are returning guys. Only 2 positions that aren't are 1st and 2nd base.

Yeah I thought the same. We talk about how the transfers are busts, but 6 of the 8 players on the field (if you count Arambide as a catcher) and 2 of our 3 starters were all on the team last year.

What I’ve been saying for a month now. I’m so sick of watching Dardar get up there with a runner in scoring position, get down 0-2, and whiff on strike 3 because he’s trying to put the ball on Nicholson.

Choke the frick up, and put the ball in play.

you almost have to make guarantees to retain players like that and if they don't take the next step

Yep, but the flip side is you have to replace them with portal kids, who may or may not "take the next step"

JJ thought this out before he spoke. I kind of sense there are a couple of players he thinks have the ability to do what he's asking them to at the plate but just won't. Maybe one last shot at motivation? Do it his way or bye?

Jay is great but getting Skenes from Air Force and him turning into the best pitcher on the planet was by and large luck, nobody could've predicted it and I feel like it kind of warped everything after it

Skenes, Tanks, Daniel Dickinson, Luis Hernandez were all conference guys even if it was from a smaller conferences. It still translated. Dardar, Yorke, Caraway weren't all conference guys even in less competitive conferences. They were good in those conferences but they weren't elite and the step up in competition and lack of production has shown that. I don't mind one or two Braden Simpsons a class because you never know how the power translates but you can't build a team out of those guys.

I know he and his sraff to do their own talent evaluation but I’m sure he used scouts out there to tell him who looked good in the portal and who might fit in at Lsu that’s where he messed up those guys were just trying to get spots filled to make money. Additionally i pitching talent evaluation fell short thinking that Evans and Schmidt were starters when they really were middle relief pitchers.

There's nothing wrong with going to the portal to fill the gaps, CJJ has done this in the past with great success. The biggest difference from this team and the ones in the past...excluding '24 is there was always a LEADER on the team. And that person was someone that has been on the team from the get-go, starting as a sophomore or freshman. This season is devoid of a leader of the team who carries the energy of the team. That was one of the issues with the '24 team. Next year will be a repeat of /24 and this year, unless someone fills that role now.

Great post, and who can and who can’t step up to SEC-level competition is the million dollar question. I’m stumped. The Grand Canyons and High Points of the world seem similar to the mid-major schools above that we’ve crushed it with.

Poorly researched. Dardar was honorable mention all Big 12, yorke was second team all-wac, caraway wasn’t in a conference.

He’s aware of the mistakes that he made and he’s committed to fixing them.

That’s my coach!

That whole interview is awesome. He’s honest about what this team actually is and you can tell he’s pissed at himself because he constructed this team. What has and will always be respected by me at least is Jay always has a detailed plan. This team was a plan that just didn’t work. But Jay will learn and adapt because he’s the best coach in college baseball. Sometimes I wish our fanbase understood this as a whole and appreciated the fact that baseball and especially portal era baseball is fricking hard. At least we have the best coach to go after it every year. But the ignorant part of the fanbase can be loud and that’s just annoying at times.

Does anyone know how much nil he got compared to other top teams?

I thought a few people alluded to him being mad about not getting enough nil this past year foe the portal.

That's no excuse but I am interested if that's the case.

Did you hear a single word about pitching or defense? We gave up 10 runs last night.

Refreshing to hear this especially from the top. Usually its the same ol
"we're focused on the next game"
"learn from our mistakes and correct them"
"still a lot of season left to play"

A lot of posters here could learn a thing or two about reality. They seem to think being a "good" fan is to stick your head in the dirt.

PULMONARY would have NEVER said or admitted what Jay said in those interviews. That's my coach!!! He said it will never happen again (his mistake in putting this team together), and I believe him.

Jay's not throwing his coaches or players under the bus like Pawl used to do. I'm just comparing coaches, and thank God LSU has IMO the best baseball coach in the country. I don't know, but I have a good idea how this season will end, and the future is bright going forward under Jay.
