Brian Kelly shouldn’t talk to faymuhly like that.

He wouldn’t be fired if he would have taught that to his OLine

Neither of these coaches have performed to a level that makes me think Scott Woodward would be unwilling to fire them.
I think it must have been frank wilson. Who is the logical interim head coach. Kelly figured dumping him buys him more time. And Woodward knows he’s the stop gap coach to get to season end?

Not sure I’m buying this. Sloan is a problem but not the problem; Kelly is.

I am not an LSU alum or fan, but definitely appreciate the history and tradition of LSU athletics. How in the world did Kelly think he was in any position to push back on his boss? The pure arrogance!
Coaching LSU football is a high mark in a person's career. I coached for a while and would have loved to had been the assistant to the assistant defensive analyst at LSU. Kelly really will not do any better...and certainly not after this. He had a chance to leave with class and show appreciation for the opportunity LSU gave him. Most coaches would dream to coach LSU. But this guy does this? Horrible and no class.

I knew when I found out he used to work for Gary Harts election committee that he was a fraud.

Not trying to be an arse but that’s not what the tweet says at all

Kelly fired back that he wanted to make other staff moves Woodward wasn’t comfortable with.
“Other staff moves” is what escalated the meeting

Insubordination in my book. Terminate with cause. No payout.

Nobody should protect Brad Davis. Send him out with all the rest of them.

Sounds like Kelly recognized Wilson was dealing behind him and wanted him gone. No idea, but that would make sense.

Maybe he wanted to get fired so he pushed back?!?

Because he’s owed 50mil and doesn’t have to eat shite if he doesn’t care about keeping the job.

the whole scenario was a negotiation ployby both sides
Woodward tells BK to fire Sloan, BK knew this was going to happen and so he pushed back to kick start the buyout discussion
Best case scenario for BK is Woodward threatens to fire him if he doesn’t fire Sloan, Kelly disagrees and Woodward fires Kelly.
Begin full payout to BK
next best scenario is BK pushes back. Woodward says I’m gonna have to let you go. What’s it gonna take for you to resign? negotiations on the buyout settlement money start there

This was my first thought, too.
I wonder if the meeting took place in SW's office and if he taped the conversation.

Or just maybe Kelly wanted out and he knew how to get there.
Posted on 10/26/25 at 7:39 pm to Jack Crevalle
Kelly probably went in there thinking he was bullet proof with that kind of buyout and was caught off guard and went into fight or flight mode and decided to fight.

Wherever he goes it will be in style thanks to our fricked up AD

Not sure if what is true, but the defense isn’t any better than the offense. However, Sloan should have been the first to go.
