Referring to Florida. We scored to go up 19 to 14 or 15. In the 4th Quarter. Our vaunted defense let them run it down the field 80 yards and go ahead. Great defenses do not let that happen. Then we had them pinned deep and we gave up two or three first downs right up the middle.

We lose to ND on a long pass. We lose to Florida the year before on the same play twice.. great defenses do not get beat that way.

We are supposed to have a great defense. We do not. We have a good defense

Whatever. Again this is why you play the game on the field

Exactly. No defense can shut everyone out. To expect that is ridiculous. Every defense, even our 2011 beloved defense got slapped around a few times.

The game has changed. 17 PPG given up is absolutely elite these days. LSU should be looking to give up 20 or so a game, which would land them in the 10-15 range overall and back in the top 5 in S&P+.

LSU gave up 38 to a very good, possibly elite, offense on the road.

The mental gymnastics yall do to belittle the defense is truly amazing. Bringing up the ND game again,a s if the defense lost that game

Dominant because the offense did nothing. Take a look at what they did in every other game before ours

Yeah you left off the part of my post where I actually said our offense was bad.

No I didn't. Scoring 16 in a half isn't dominant, and that's even before you consider what they were doing in games before ours and our lack of offensive production.

I’ll ask again, you’re going to blame the defense for giving up 3 scoring drives on the road?

Bottom line: Aranda's plans have sucked against the past 3 'big' teams we've played with mobile QB's and we've been carved up, especially over the middle.

time for him to change and some pressure to be put on him to earn his money.

That was 2017 right? Funny how when we got torched by State and lost to Troy it was because we lacked depth and our DL was awful because of the previous coach but Notre Dame, well that’s because of Aranda

I was surprised we didn't see more blitzing vs UT on third and long situations.

The entire team (coaches and players) didn't believe Ehlinger could beat them with his arm. They said as much. And in the first half he really couldn't. He was something like 9-20. Ehlinger just happened to go 22-27 in the second half.

This is just false UCF scored 25 points on our D. A&M had 7 possessions start from the 25, and that game never should have even gotten to that point if not for terrible officiating.

His plan against UT had players in position to make plays all night, but unfortunately, they didn't make one in the second half. The main goal was to make Ehlinger beat us with his arm. Couple that was DBs that were in position but did not make the plays, and you get the results from Saturday.

Try using your brain just a little bit and actually think about what you're watching.

We were one of 3 teams to hold them under 30.

The other two were the #1 and #2 scoring defenses in the country.

Outside A&M we were a top 10 scoring defense.

If you want to judge the quality of our defense last year it is probably more useful to look at 12/13 games and not 1 insane outlier.

Yes the A&M game happened but and our average is what it is, but our defense was far more like to give up under 22 points in a game than more.

If you go to the Texas boards this week, they are all bitching because the DC blitzed on 3rd down while our fans are bitching about not blitzing

What exactly should he change scheme wise? Also I continue to be amazed that people keep bringing up his salary. Like it’s your money. He’s paid what he’s worth based on the market don’t want to pay him fine but you will have to pay the next guy or you will not get a quality replacement

Defense will be fine. But all those who had anointed Aranda as the next God, were wrong...He can be replaced.

Saying he’s not worth what he’s making is not “trying to run him out of town”

This, and I'll go a little further and say that I just want our defense to be top tier , not just average. and I'm fine with the money. Just keep our D at or near the top.

What I dont get is why is he so protected from criticism, and expectation to get better and to be great.

As long as Brent Venables is available, sure. According to the people who are actually paid to evaluate coaches, Venables is the only DC better than Aranda.

Yeah Bamas great defense really shut down Clemson

Modern football so heavily favors offense you can’t expect total defensive domination week in and week out.

Texas was one game. Let’s how things play out before running Aranda out of town

Youre way more likely to get a downgrade than an upgrade.

People say he can be replaed, but will he be replaced by someone better?

Most of our issues have been due to a lack of depth on the DL and a lack of pass rushers.
