To the idiot downvoter of the statement above, please explain how 25 points and 250 totals yards of offense is so terrible to give up. When you do, please explain how it’s still terrible even though LSU was playing 6th string WRs at corner.

I agree that the score of that game did not reflect the level of dominance by the D. Considering the number of injuries to the secondary the D locked UCF down. They also scored a late TD to make the game look a lot closer then it was.

like I said last time, we'll gladly take him off your hands, since he sucks.

They didn't steamroll LSU (or State for that matter). Aranda kept that game winnable if we could have done anything on the other side of the ball.

Y’all’s obsession with propping up Aranda is pathetic,

Well according to pretty much all the experts who are paid to evaluate coaches, unless you can get Brent Venables to coach your defense, anyone else is a step down from Dave Aranda.

It’s not just LSU fans who are “propping him up,” so GTFOH with that ignorance.

Venables would be an easy pick. Even the Georgia DC has had more success against Bama.

Whatever, Aranda is a very good DC. Got tired of people running down Orgeron and worshipping Aranda.

In addition to getting lit up by Bama and TAM. We had the Florida game won last year. Then our defense collapses and gives up a long drive running and another two or three running clock grinding first downs just pounding up the middle.. D line strength and depth is and has been an issue for several years. We seem to be getting there but it will be a weakness going forward.

How are you quantifying this? UGA gave up 35 last year, we gave up 29.

In 2017, we gave up 24 and UGA gave up 23 in regulation (although Bama missed the chip shot FG at the end to win before OT).

O would not be the coach here still if he didn't have Aranda, so you should probably take it up with him first.

we still want him to be our HC, don't we?

I never did, at least not the one “coach in waiting”

Does this still mean the future of the LSU program is f'd if he leaves to be a HC somewhere?

a) he’s more likely to leave to be a DC in the NFL b) the program will never be in danger because 1 coordinator leaves but it could drop off depending on who was hired to replace him and prior to bringing in Joe Brady O looked like he was just hiring his old buddies so some concern was legit.

he’s every number and position on the field. Accountability is real... mind blowing.

The last 3 times they played Bama:

2015 - 38 points
2017 - 26 points
2018 - 35 points

Their current DC was hired in February of this year. So, are you just making shite up?

So we’re blaming the defense for a game they gave up 20 points? The defense gave up 3 scoring drives and they’re to blame for the loss?

You’re a genius.

I wonder why O wanted to extend him and pay him a king's ransom if he sucks so much?

I think LSU is a little weak at the nickel and even more so at #2 safety position with Harris and Stevens still figuring out proper leverage with tackling and coverage and they are a little slow with their ball skills against better competition. Also think the LBs are struggling in coverage, and we aren't seeing an interior pass rush.

That's just about the whole darned defense. I thought we were good.

It wasn't a blow out at the half, but 16-0 with 320 yards of offense was pretty dominant. Miss St played them the toughest on D, but they had the same issue as us. Their offense was as bad if not worse than ours.

Dominant because the offense did nothing. Take a look at what they did in every other game before ours.

There was a lot of talk about this defense being as good or better than 2011’s.

It was laughable then and still is now. This defense should be very good, but it’s no where near the one from 2011. The talent level from top to bottom just isn’t thwre.

I’m still waiting for someone to name a defensive guru who has NOT been lit up more than once. Look at Saban the last few years. A talented QB can do that.

Exactly. No defense can shut everyone out. To expect that is ridiculous. Every defense, even our 2011 beloved defense got slapped around a few times.

So you’re admittedly looking for any narrative you can find to run down Aranda and worship O.
Thanks for the clarification.

ETA: I think they’re BOTH doing a damn good job.
