Saban doesn’t win the West and folks in Alabama begin predicting his demise.
Absurd. Saban is still Saban, and in the real world his team should be the favorite to win it all, even over Georgia and everyone else. He's gonna play like a chip is on his shoulder.

Go look at the class they just brought in
As compared to what? He has done this every year!! 2022 recruiting class was a down year in recruiting?

He's been signing record recruiting classes for 15 years.

Saban has one foot out the door in retirement. All these doomsday talks are stupid, they're going to be great next year but Saban is probably seriously considering retirement. The SEC is more competitive than ever with some great coaching staffs and he can no longer keep a dynasty with NCAA's current landscape with portal/NIL. He sees the writing on the wall.

Alabama fans are 10 times worse than Rantards, you just haven't seen it with all the success they’ve had. You’re getting a glimpse with the slightest down Year.

Bama has won championships with Greg McElroy and Jake Coker at QB. And went to the playoffs with Blake Sims.
Every year, we hear this same thing: "Bama's going to be down next year because of a new QB."
Yet it never happens and they keep winning.
Underestimate Bama at your peril.
Yep.
Their "horrible" down year in 2022 was an 11-2 record with the two loses coming in two road games. The first on a walk-off FG. The second on a walk-off 2 point conversion. Every team should be so lucky to have THAT as their worst season in a decade

They will be the favorite to win the West next season if, for nothing else, their schedule is more favorable than LSU. They don't play a "neutral" site game vs a team expected to start the season in the top 10 (FSU). Texas, Tennessee and LSU are all at home. They don't play Georgia. Auburn is an unknown with a new HC, but as it stands now, their toughest road game looks to be at A&M...who is coming off a losing season.
The doom and gloom article is a result of boredom. Alabama has been so good for so long that writers have to search the bottom of the barrel to find any sort of "negative" angle to take. I like LSU's chances as much as anyone next season...but Alabama is not "declining"

Ya love to see it.
Also: What a bunch of fricken kooks.

There is material difference between an 18 yo Fr and a 21 yo transfer
Look at LSU, we're getting a VG linebacker coming in for a year. We also have Harold Perkins for 2 more years. Who's bigger in the long term?
Alabama has lots of those type guys. There might be one as good as Perkins, but was behind Anderson and didn't make an impact. Sure, some are leaving with the portal, but enough are staying that they're going to be excellent.
I don't bet on anything IRL, but if Bama's predicted win total is under 10, I'd be tempted to start betting, and take the over.

They can hear the rumbling Earth shaking their dynasty. A change is coming. They can sense it.
Hug and Elephant Day will be desperately needed.

Here's my take -
Yes, BK is doing a great job and LSU sits in a great spot. I love what he's doing and we are set up for some serious success for AT LEAST the next couple of seasons. We look stacked!!!
Having said that, Saban is the best there is. HE's proven year in and year that he's motivated to dominate, recruit the best in the country and he will hire new, hungry coordinators.
Saban is not going to just give in easily... we will have to go to Tuscaloosa this season and take it.

quote:beg to differ. While his past coordinators weren't the best, I don't see him getting some killers now either. Bama is definitely going the talent over elite coaching route. Bama isn’t going to suck, but the reign is over.
Plus he canned both coordinators and will likely upgrade both. Bama isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

quote:some of yall have deranged Bama syndrome. That team this year in 2023 will be the same or worse than that 2022 team. That 2022 team had major flaws and just as easily as they could have won those games, you clearly gloss over the multiple one score games they could have lost last year as well.
Alabama still had a very good season they literally lost on the last play of the game twice. I think anyone underestimating Saban and Alabama are in for a rude awakening. Media heads have claimed the Dynasty was over a few times back in 2015 and 2020 and then Saban came back and won another Championship.
Also the dynasty has been over. A covid year championship is all they have since 2017.

They won the Championship back in 2017. Lost in 2018, won it in 2020 and lost in 2021. That is not a Dynasty being over.

Then LSU could have gone 6-6 by that logic. If the seasons were reversed where LSU went 10-2 with only losses to Bama and Tenn but had close wins against the rest you would be claiming what a successful season.

Agreed. I know we all are waiting for this day to come but the fact is, saban is far from finished.
He isn’t finished, but he now has multiple programs that can challenge and beat them in a given season. Not just miraculous upsets, but teams that can go toe to toe with them physically and match up in terms of coaching. They play us and Tennessee yearly, Auburn will often give them a game playing over their heads and they will improve under Freeze. I don’t think A&M matches up in terms of coaching, but they do have talent and have beaten Bama and taken them to the wire in back to back seasons. And then they have UGA to deal with if they make it to the SECCG.
As good as Saban is, that’s no cakewalk. He’s never had to face that many programs with great talent and coaching in a single season.

With that logic of your argument we should have lost to Auburn, Arkansas, and lucked into beating Bama so we should have been 6-6. Bama won those games just like we won those games. Again they lost on the last play of the game twice and still got the Number 1 ranked recruiting class they are far from dead.
What is notable is how out of the ordinary it is for Bama to play that many close games in a single season. And the reason they won most of their games when they struggled (other than when he was out) was Bryce Young. He’s also the reason their games vs us and UT were so close.
It will be very interesting to see how things work with a new OC and QB at Bama. It’s hard to imagine they will be able to carry the team the way Young was able to.

How awful they played in multiple games
This may just be wishful thinking on my part, but it feels different to me.
LSU is two and two versus Bama for the last four years, Tennessee beat Bama for the first time in like 15 years, and and Bama was the 3rd to 4th best team in the SEC this season. Add to that that they haven’t been the dominant team in the SEC for two years now.
I just don’t get the same vibe from either Nick or Bama that I got when they were running over the SEC and college football.

You sound scared. He is a great coach, but they are not ahead of the top 5 like they used to be.
