Pretty apocalyptic for a Montgomery-based paper

“And yet, while Alabama stockpiled some of the country’s most talented lads, Kelly is amassing men. Talented men.”

“…right now, Alabama looks like a pauper, and LSU is living on Billionaires' Row, because the Tigers are reaping the dividends of the portal.”

I agree with most of the article, but man…Saban doesn’t win the West and folks in Alabama begin predicting his demise.

This only indicates one thing. That at least someone from the outside looking in sees the logic in Kelly’s rehabilitation of the LSU program, by in large, as we do here. The actual effect is yet to be confirmed.

The way Alabama responded to their “down year” last season was impressive. People forget the context of the video of Saban telling the boosters about Jimbo’s 22 class being all about money. Saban was challenging them to pay up. Go look at the class they just brought in. The boosters responded in a big way.

Plus he canned both coordinators and will likely upgrade both. Bama isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

I like where we’re at though.

Alabama still had a very good season they literally lost on the last play of the game twice. I think anyone underestimating Saban and Alabama are in for a rude awakening. Media heads have claimed the Dynasty was over a few times back in 2015 and 2020 and then Saban came back and won another Championship.

Agreed. I know we all are waiting for this day to come but the fact is, saban is far from finished.

Yes, it’s going to be interesting competing with saban these coming years knowing we have an actual coach/adult running the show. Buckle up boys.

Little Nicky probably co-wrote the article to help him rid the team of rat poison...

I claimed it was over in 2019 when LSU beat them in Tuscaloosa, and I was right! When LSU outclassed them in 2019 after Clemson destroyed them in 2018, I had seen enough to say that the dynasty was over. Those two games were something that had not been seen since Saban got established at Bama. Sure, he lost an occasional game, but everyone knew it was a fluke.

After LSU won in 2019, I predicted that Bama would be lucky to win another championship, and I thought one more was Saban’s ceiling. He won the pandemic, and good for him. I stand by my prediction: he’s finished.

Saban will be competitive, but I don’t see him making a four team playoff again. Lucky for him it goes to 12.

Fingers crossed, we could be about to enter 4-5 years of epic battles for the West.

The article is not inaccurate. Bama is in decline and Saban doesn’t seem to be able to change the course. Possibly he knows he’s on his way to retirement before Bama falls back into the pack.

Them winning the Championship in 2020 literally debunks your claim that the Dynasty was over in 2019. If they never win another Championship under Saban again then it would be over in 2021 when they lost the Championship to Georgia not in 2019.

Bama just landed a recruiting class that was significantly higher than 2nd place UGA. He's not going to misuse talent the way Jimbo does. I'd wait to see who he brings in as the new OC and DC before throwing dirt on his grave.
