Replacing both coordinators, the QB, and fielding a talented, but young team is not a recipe for success. Other teams are sensing the opportunity of being able to compete. An upset starts the conversations about Saban’s age and the decline. Writers will swarm. Fans will start to complain. It all contributes to the failure to dominate.

Pretty ridiculous if you look at Alabama’s recruiting classes…we have to use the portal do to roster issues thanks O. Saban’s roster is still superb

While technically true, it ignores how awful they played in multiple other games. They nearly lost to an awful A&M team (yes they beat LSU, but A&M was a different team at that point).

They also should have lost to UTexas, but lucked out in knocking out their QB early (shocker). Then add in a reeling Ole Miss, and you can understand that people saw the issues with the team.

They were as close to 7-5 as they were to 12-0, and that is not normal for a Saban Bama team, especially one coming off an CFP Final Appearance and returning a Heisman QB.

For example, 2010 they lost 3 games with two of those by a combined 4 points, but only had 1 win by less than double digits.

That is the issue.

After LSU won in 2019, I predicted that Bama would be lucky to win another championship, and I thought one more was Saban’s ceiling. He won the pandemic, and good for him. I stand by my prediction

Told my dad the same thing. If for any of the reason than he has to win two games.

Let's be honest, he's the greatest, but he won a lot when he was just put in the title game. 2011, bama shouldn't have even been playing. He now has to win two games back to back against equally talented competition.

No more titles for saban. (And while I'm typing this I'm wondering if he'll rattle off two in a row and call it quits) lol

Bama lost 2 games on last play. They also lost their 3 best players that impacted those games, Young, Gibbs & Anderson. Anderson May be replaced but I don’t see Young or Gibbs being replaced as easily. Their WRs are average & most of them left. Alabama will still be good but they’ll not be dominant

The Aggies outside of the LSU game literally played their best game of the season against Bama who did not Bryce Young.

With that logic of your argument we should have lost to Auburn, Arkansas, and lucked into beating Bama so we should have been 6-6. Bama won those games just like we won those games. Again they lost on the last play of the game twice and still got the Number 1 ranked recruiting class they are far from dead.

While I hope we are on the rise and the gumps on the wane, that is probably the most exaggerated article on the subject I’ve ever read.

But the leaders of that team are go e and they have some critical holes to fill. I agree that Bama isn’t going anywhere but 2023 we will likely see a weaker than usual Bama.

Yes, it’s going to be interesting competing with saban these coming years knowing we have an actual coach/adult running the show. Buckle up boys.

Exactly. Kelly was brought in to do what Orgeron failed to do and what Miles was doing from 2007-2011 but then failed to do—play Saban dead even.

At least two of those gump NCs should have been ours over the years. But yes, buckle up.

Saban telling the boosters about Jimbo’s 22 class being all about money. Saban was challenging them to pay up. Go look at the class they just brought in. The boosters responded in a big way.

A&M surely must have been in the playoffs last year with all that talent…….

Sometimes just outright buying any and all players isn’t the smart thing to do regardless of their “star rating”.

Here's the thing, the portal has fundamentally changed college football. Unlike a few years ago where Saban could just stack 5 star on top of 5 star, now those 5 stars are leaving after a year or two on the bench. Bama will never be as deep (and thus as dominant) as they were 5 years ago.

Saban will always have them in the conversation while he is there, but they are not now, nor will they ever be, what they once were.

With a Heisman QB that is not there this year. I’d be shocked if Bama doesn’t lose minimum 2 and possibly even 3 or 4 games this year. They almost lost 4 last year.

I’m not saying Saban is “done” but his back to back to back dominance over the west is absolutely done.

Nick should retire, but I am happy that he isn’t. I want to witness the decline and the inevitable gump melt.

Wow. Talk about a bunch of dramatic women. Wouldn't be shocked or blame him one bit if Saban told them to frick off and retired to his boat.

Saban will always field a great team ,strictly based on talent. He lost 2 close games last season against less
talented teams which are probably on the way up talent wise.
BK is a better X@O coach than NS and as he gets more talent
the harder it will be for NS to beat him.LSU has the players
that ALA has problems with.Multible WRs a multithreat QB in
JD and GN and speed at all positions on D.LSU finally has
a coach who is a grown man and knows what he is doing.

Bama has won championships with Greg McElroy and Jake Coker at QB. And went to the playoffs with Blake Sims.

Every year, we hear this same thing: "Bama's going to be down next year because of a new QB."

Yet it never happens and they keep winning.

Underestimate Bama at your peril.

My response is to people claiming Bama did not have a good season or that Bama and the Dynasty is done. So yes what you say is correct they had a two close calls against A&M and Texas but so did we against Auburn, Arkansas, and Bama. So by that logic we should have lost 3 more games giving us a 6-6 record. My point is that Bama had a good season and its stupid to claim otherwise.
