So why is he vaulting for Sweden? He was born in the USA he should be vaulting for America.

Mondo can jump much higher than 6.15. He intentionally does not do it, because he gets a bonus every time he sets a record. He’s trying to set as many records as possible. So he will break the record about five times next year. Each time will be a small increment.

One reason (maybe the reason?) is, I believe, because Sweden selects their olympic team based on world rankings, and the US selects theirs from the Olympic trials only. So one bad day (easy for pole vaulters), and he’s off the team. That actually happened to our World number one decathlete, Dave something. He screwed up on the pole vault, and missed the team.
