In theory if you made the pole longer couldn’t these guys go way higher than it currently is?

The previous world record before Mondo broke it was 6.16M or 20 feet 2.5" in freedom units

Mondo is now up to 6.31M or 20 feet 8.25" in freedom units.

The dude has added half a foot to the previous world record holder over time which is pretty insane. Keep in mind the pole vault pole itself maxes out around 17-17.5 feet. So going at least 3 feet higher the tippy top of the pole itself and completely clearing the line.

People trying to make light of the fact he breaks the record by less than an inch each time really dont get how unprecedented it is he's already at the heights he is and breaking it each time is going to be by razor thin margins.

There's no length limit to the pole itself, and yes in THEORY the longer the pole the more height you could go. The problem is they've have maxed out around 17-17.5 feet for a while now because poles beyond that cant really be used. You still have to run with it, plant it properly and have it bend just a certain way. Once it gets too long it doesnt do what you want anymore.

It's not like they can just create a 19 foot pole and it be use to clear 21-22 feet all of a sudden, it has to actually work the right way. They are working with the limits of the technology they have now.

The advancing a millimeter at a time makes this lose its shine. Good for him but this feels like a stunt to just keep him in a headline.

It’s a stunt to keep him getting paid by Sweden for breaking the world record each time.

A USSR power lifter was known for doing this too by breaking the WR by something like 1/2 a kilogram at a time despite lifting 10+ kg in practice regularly.

The Airborne Swede - Cajun / Tigah. All I wanna know - can his Mom cook a pot of rice and make a decent gumbo? And is he teaching his swedish girlfriend how to do that - make a decent gumbo?

Bang Ding Pow!

The term "world record" kinda gives away how unprecedented it is

Mondo is the best athlete to ever attend LSU. Not only is he the greatest pole vaulter in the world, he is the greatest pole vaulter to ever exist. No former lsu athlete can make that claim in their respective sport.

He went what 1/254” of an inch higher than his last world record?

Until anyone challenges him, he will keep doing it. What's wrong in being the world's best again and again and again especially when he's getting paid everytime?

Not at all. It’s like when you know someone can throw a baseball 100 yards and the next close person can only throw it 40 yards and you throw it 41 yards then wait 6 months and make a big spectacle then throw it 42 yards rise and repeat.
