Hampton starting allows Delpit to play closer to the line as he did last year.#7 will cause nightmares for georgia as he did last week against a&m. Defense is finally where we all thought it would be at the perfect time.

I'll see your Mo Hampton and raise you a Marcel Brooks. That guy is a heat seeking missile and has helped significantly increase our pressure on the QB.

Allowing either Delpit OR Stevens to play close to the line makes our defense much better. Neither of those guys are tremendous in coverage (Delpit used to be), but they have a nose for the ball when they are up close.

Stevens needs to play OLB. He can cover, has great awareness, and is excellent in run support.

I agree. I don't like him in deep coverage, but he can handle the intermediate stuff, and his ability to shoot the gaps and make sure tackles makes him much more valuable, IMO, playing up front.

Agreed. That last play he made against aTm was badass. Dude just reached around the receiver and slapped the ball away Tharold Simon style. I think he was falling or something, too, which made it more impressive. His future is very bright.

Was coming to post that exact thing. Great play in shutting down a desperate Jimbo that was trying all he could to sneak 14 on the board at the end.

Harris was a poor man's Hampton.
Hampton's emergence is huge for LSU's defense. The guy is a tremendous instinctive athlete.

Is it just an oversight that Brooks is not listed on this week's depth chart?

i agree... i think he is a little slow for a WR... but fast enough to cover TE's and RB's all day long. and he rushes the passer very well... Marcell will basically play his role next year...
