It's about 300 miles away from the equator, it's summertime year round.

Because those people are pathetic.

That's really all it is, well that and they use the internet to draw attention to themselves. You know, attention whoring at its best.

Wrong. It can get damn cold on Kilimanjaro. I clearly recall being blinded by snow and wind between Gilman's Point and Uhuru Peak.

No shite, Sherlock, read the post I was responding to. Once you get above 10000 feet of course it's cold.

I was simply referring to the fact that there is no real change of seasons. There is no "summer" vs. "winter". However, there is 15000 feet vs. ground level.

If there were a 15000 foot mountain in Baton Rouge it would be cold in August.

There are different seasons mainly just dry and wet ones but it can get pretty cold at sea level there.

In the climbing world this is the equivalent of beating ULL in football (or baseball).

I'm no elite mountaineer, but I've done a few climbs that are more technical than Kilimanjaro, although none to that altitude. It's a nice accomplishment for most people, and requires dedication to training. If I ever get the opportunity I'll certainly do it.

I climbed it last summer. It is pretty tough especially the last 24 hours. The altitude is the hardest part. 19,000+ is serious elevation.

Which is something 99% of the people here have never done! So what is your point?
