Creating laws to govern the lawless has always made me scratch my head. Its completely illogical, which tells you that the people proposing such "solutions" are not actually trying to solve the problem they claim they are trying to solve.

These types of people always want a disarmed citizenry. Every country under which authoritarian regimes flourish requires that. The only thing keeping America safe from the type of authoritarian policies we see even in Europe is because of private gun ownership. An armed citizenry is also one of the reasons no foreign power has ever dared a direct invasion of the USA.
