You would only say that after being drafted for leverage. Before defeats the purpose

I'm seeing July 17 as well. Hopefully we know who we have by then, and not have any drama like last year.

Been saying that he was going to be taken high, maybe not this high, but high all season long.

just when you think you've learned your lesson on guys like Brody Colvin and ZVR...

...Zach Lee comes along....and you get your hopes up again....

....then Mac Marshall comes to campus...and the deadline passes....and you think, WHEW....then he leaves

I'll never get my hopes up again...

PLEASE MCKAY COME ON

College is definitely trending up either way

I think recent history points to a quicker route to the Majors for former college players than for those that came out right after high school.

I mean, you had that kid from TCU last year that went from pitching in the CWS in June to pitching in the actual World Series come October.

Why would you make statement that will drop your draft grade, just to use it to bargain for higher drafted money though?

It isn't the statement that drops him, it is his bonus expectation before hand. Negotiations don't just begin after the pick is made. He was going to drop because of his price, and making the statement is just to tell teams he is sticking to it...not to take him and hope he lowers it.

There are probably a few teams that have some pool flexibility that are telling him they could possibly work things out. He would rather be picked by them and see how serious they are about making him a legit offer than a team that is going to offer him a couple hundred thousand and hope he changes his mind.

According to him, his 'price' was met but he and his family decided college route was better....at least that's what the article said...
And publicly stating that you fully intend to go to college before the draft will most certainly get you dropped....

Yep dont expect either in, Lochridge will also be one to watch very close, I think he's our starting SS next season if he makes it in.

I'm thinking maybe 3rd for him. Byrd is a slick-fielding shortstop who looks to have some offensive upside. Lockridge has the build of a power hitter. Just a thought.
