Sounds like coach Robichaux was trying to help his player out. Nothing wrong with that.

He had a lot of praise for Bregman too. Said that it was an absolute pleasure to watch him play these last 3 years and that he was very happy for him. The guy seemed like a class act

Is Bregman the highest drafted position player in LSU baseball history?

I know Ben McDonald was the #1 overall pick but if I'm not mistaken Bregman is the highest position player, right?

Yes. The previous high was Todd Walker at #8 in 1994.

I think Jacob Taylor could come off the books today in rounds 3-5.

It is exciting to think for the future that, assuming Laird and Chinea turn pro, LSU will only have one senior on the team next year (Devall).

I really feel like seeing all these college players improve their draft stocks so much will influence a lot of high school kids to go to school. College is definitely trending up either way

Taylor will likely not show up here but I heard that January is also likely to be an easy sign too.

It is unreal to believe that LSU may have a midweek starter throwing 93-95.

Including this years draft LSU has had a player go in the first round 6 out of the last 7 years.

2009 - 23 - Jared Mitchell (White Sox)
2010 - 1s-39 - Anthony Ranaudo (Red Sox) -still counts
2011 - 31 - Mikie Mahtook (Rays)
2012 - 4 - Kevin Gausman (Orioles)
2013 - none
2014 - 7 - Aaron Nola (Phillies)
2015 - 2 - Alex Bregman (Astros)

I'm the opposite. Teams need senior leadership. Program players add a lot of stability.

As they should. Unfortunately, I don't see a 1st rounder on next year's team at this point. Unless, of course, one of our relievers has a breakout year.

The issue with LSU and ULL was not with Robichaux
You have to respect the job he's done with that program.
The real problem was Wade Simoneaux at that time, then he moved to LA Tech as head coach and there is a reason LSU didn't play LA Tech during the years Simoneaux was there. With him being fired last year I believe I would imagine LA TEch gets back on the schedule

It is not an ideal situation, but it has at least provided an opportunity to make a deep run this year. Next year, the experience mixed with the young talent in the pitching staff will hopefully carry the team early while the young (new) position players get accustomed to the pitching. 2017 is shaping up to be stacked LSU team.

Taylor not picked in the top 100. Any chance he comes to LSU?

Does he end up back at JuCo if he doesn't like where he is drafted?
