Miles to remain unemployed for the time being - no broadcast booth

Well, this is certainly a distressing and depressing development.
After being let go as LSU’s head coach, after he failed to find a seat on the latest spinning of the head coaching carousel, it was assumed that Les Miles would find a spot as a college football analyst on one network or another. As recently as earlier this month, the Mad Hatter’s daughter stated she’s trying to convince her father “to do media now.”
Unfortunately for all involved, that appears unlikely to happen as Miles indicated during an event Monday that him in the broadcast booth or studio this year is “not going to happen.”
From the Montgomery Advertiser:
Miles said he went for a tryout to be an analyst for FOX Sports, but didn’t want to be conformed.
“It’s a struggle when you haven’t had a censor button on the sidelines,” Miles said. “You quickly find out I gave it the old college try, but it’s not going to happen.
Naturally, a national period of mourning will commence immediately. Hopefully, the healing can begin in the not-too-distant future.

Wait, Miles has issues speaking his mind without dropping f bombs?

He's busy tweaking his secret playbook for his next job.
In all seriousness though, I wish the best for him. The job market didn't align well for him last season with most of the big job openings looking for a young "hot" name. I think he'll give it one more try this year to see if he can land a mid-upper level job. He's a Tiger for life in my book and I have many great memories of him on the sidelines

Someone should set him up with a weekly podcast during the season.

He's already loaded and he gets to go see his children play ball. No reason to take a job he doesn't want

I'm more inclined to believe that he didn't want to be conformed to proper grammar and use of the English language.
It seems to me it's an advantage for someone on television or radio to be able to speak clearly, coherently and make sense in a short amount of time. Those are three things that Les Miles struggles with like a 3-year-old trying to drive a Space Shuttle.

miles is getting paaaaid to not do jack shite. I would do anything until that cash cow is dry

He is entertaining in small segments. If he had to go for say an hour, it would be a challenge for him unless he's in one of the broadcasts where there are 3 or 4 others chiming in.

He doesn't need the $$ so if he just wants to enjoy his free time then good for him.
If I were him I'd hold out for Corso's spot on Gameday. You get to provide some football insight and be silly for a couple hours a week. Seems right up his ally.

it's not about being loaded. Long before the buyout, Les had more money that he'll even need.
It's about doing something with your time that's fulfilling. Yes, a year or two of down time to spend more time with family, travelling, etc. is a good thing, but even that grows old.

It's not that he doesn't want, it's that they don't want him.
Honestly, I never could envision Miles being a football analyst because he is utterly impossible to be understood. I mean watch his news conferences. I can't remember how many new conferences I must have watched over the years and felt like I didn't understand anything thing the guy said. I often wondered how the players and assistant coached could understand him.

The media liked Miles as the OBJECT of an interview because generally, he made a fool of himself and they portrayed him as the lovable goof.
Unfortunately, that quality isn't really what you are looking for in an on air personality.

I honestly think he might have Alzheimer's

And doesn't he have to show he's actively seeking employment to keep getting the buyout payments? Or does that happen regardless?

It was reported that ESPN wanted to hire Les months ago and he did National Signing Day analysis for them, so it wouldn't surprise me if they already worked out some sort of agreement. Could just be waiting for Corso to retire and/or give the mass layoffs time to breathe.
In the meantime, Les can hang out with his family and collect buyout money while he goes to broadcasting tryouts and his agent pushes his "interest" in head coaching jobs.

Miles was in Birmingham over the weekend speaking to SEC referees. One of my vendors is a ref and told me Miles brought the house down. Just funny as he could be. Came to the podium with some sort of cape on and dropped it and had full referee outfit on.
BTW,Sid Ortis' parents introduced Miles at that conference in Montgomery yesterday.

Maybe Booger McFarland can give Coach some lessons on how to speak like an analyst...or maybe they could be an analyst team and it would be Booger's job to interpret for the listening audience what CLM said or meant to say...regardless I wish he and Booger all the best...
