It’s the only position, other than pitcher that can make a real positive difference for our defense. When a pitcher has confidence that the catcher will always block the ball, he can throw anything, it relaxes them. Plus, he throws runners out. He’s not the brightest star, but he might be a real key to our success

He has a quick pop and release. He is far from an elite blocker and framer.

And he hits about as good as me.

He will come in for defense. Neal will play a lot because of his bat.

Only if the lineup needs another bat.

If the other 8 guys hit like we expect this season, I will gladly accept Milazzo hitting .220 in the 8 or 9 hole if he's the best backstop.

He’s not our ONLY catcher.

Can he hit .220?

Jay earlier in the week: “Alex has an elite throwing arm, maybe the best I’ve ever coached. He’s a good receiver, but we have several guys that are good receivers. He is probably our best at blocking balls & our guys trust him. But perhaps the biggest step he’s taken is becoming a leader & working with the other guys.”

Milazzo has major league potential defense,he`s behind in hitting at college level.needs a good coach and some time in the cage.I`m rooting for him.but not a bad idea to rotate and put some power in the lineup, midweek games, big leads

He seems like a very good blocker, but I agree about framing. He’s not terrible, but he’s not very good.

Gotta hit better or DH.
Batting last year was below par for what’s expected this year.

Milazzo is the only solution at catcher. I don't care if he bats at .ooo. Catcher is the most important defensive position. Guys like Travenski may get a hit every 15-20 at bats, but he can't catch a baseball for shite. I like a player that knows and plays his position well regardless of batting average.

Career average: .157. Is his defensive talent really good enough to offset that?

How do you define major league potential defense?

He is the only solution. Defense, infield communication, and pitcher's confidence far outweighs batting average. If you can't out bat opponents 2 to 1 then you better have a great catcher.

Yeah you are clueless,he isn’t the only solution. If that was the case we wouldn’t keep getting more an more catchers on the roster just like McManus last year
