took the way your original post was worded as his parents were on the podcast.
I apologize I was just trying to get it out quick.
He just said that, that was the information he received not how or in what way. Because obviously this took everyone by surprise considering the amount of playing time and all.

quote:nah, screw that. We wasted games playing him when he played like dog shite. Him being in the lineup cost other guys valuable playing time. And he's shitting all over that instead of appreciating it and taking advantage of it.
Let him make his decision and be happy for the time he was a Tiger. The negativity doesn’t help anything.

If Braswell is gone then who is the starting SS next year? Maybe they would give Guidry time at least as a backup IF as well as one out top bullpen arms.

Brady Neal knows deep down why he’s really leaving. He struggled more these last two years than he has ever done in his baseball life. He has the right to go somewhere else, but everyone who watched him this season could see the struggle wasn’t going away. He needs to hold himself accountable for some of that.

Going to a lesser program than LSU is doing just that, no?

LSU baseball isn't for everyone

I think best case scenario if he returns would be Braswell at 3B and bring in an elite SS as I think he projects as a 3B next level. He got a lot better at SS as time went on tho def wouldn’t mind seeing him another year.

What makes you think this would be a good idea? Just one reason

Regardless of where it was said, imo it reflects poorly on them.
Does he think he’s going to leave and go to a team full of friends? No, either way he’s facing some change. How about showing some leadership to the new kids coming in and work on your weaknesses at the same time?
I think we are seeing why this team struggled, and that to me is there was not a true team, just a bunch of individuals. Maybe that’s what Jay meant by having “too much depth”. If every player thinks they should be the starter, you are going to have problems.

Why Guidry? Not saying you’re wrong. Just wondering?
Outside looking in, he came as the in-state savior at SS. He couldn't hit well enough to break the lineup, they tried him as pitcher. Got time last year, got some time to start then fell out of favor. Dutton, Little, and Loer got more innings. Helmers and Ulloa got slightly less.
And it wasn't like Guidry was bad. Best BAA on the team, essentially 4th best ERA (holman, jump, griff better) 10 wild pitches in 24 innings is rough, but he wasn't terrible overall.
Honestly I get it. He's kinda stagnant here. Best case he's a solid closer. He's probably not getting into the rotation. He's probably not taking on a long relief role like Herring did this year. He's not breaking the lineup.
I love the kid and his attitude on the mound but there might not be a realistic path of development here.

Welcome to the new era of college athletics
The only happy players are the three weekend starters and the 9 regular players
Coaches might as well recruit to that fact and get some program players instead to fill out roster
None will be happy waiting their turn anymore

One reason? The kid clearly does love LSU and he’s been a solid arm for us but if he wanted to play some IF on a reserve basis what would be the harm if we were a little thin at the position? No one is talking about him starting at SS and hitting leadoff.

During the season in SEC games, Guidry had a 6.00 ERA and walked 10 in 9 innings.

OF spots are tight w Ashton and Brown out there and Curiel coming in. I hope Frey stays and we find a way to get his bat in the order regularly. I hope Guidry and Noot both stick.
We will be young next season and needed to make room for this incoming class.
Braz staying prob hurts us more than it helps us next year and the future. We need to find our next SS and that’s prob Kooch or one of the incoming guys. As much as the bat helped and D got better 2nd half his name doesn’t need to be written in marker at SS giving an opportunity to younger guy unless we can somehow get Killen. Need an upgrade and just don’t know where he can play besides 2B and DH.

Johnson basically said recently he needs 11 stud position players and 8 stud pitchers. The rest won’t be happy so find out who wants to be here and fill a role. So interestingly enough, there will be opportunities for a speedster willing to pinch run, a late inning defensive specialist and pretty good pitchers fine with pitching when the studs need rest….and not bitching or tucking tail about it.

Crazy talk unless you know of someone better willing to transfer this upcoming year.
It’s a new era. Play the best for now and then figure it out all over again the next year.

A guy’s love for LSU should have no influence on how much playing time he gets. But you are asking what the harm would be if we let a guy that has no business playing and taking reps from guys who are much better prepared to help the team if needed?
You know Josh Pearson really loves LSU and they say he has a nasty knuckleball. Why don’t we give him some innings on the mound?
This is getting downvoted… there’s no way y’all actually want Guidry getting PT in the infield right?
