But he purposefully took a redshirt. That’s what redshirts do, they take a backseat. No redshirt, no backseat. Everyone knows he’s the future.

I’m not at all. IMO, this chatter about Walker is due to the fact that Nuss may stick around and let this play out for another year and Walker isn’t sure he can beat him out.

Nussmeier was better than him this past year and neither of them got significant game experience other than Nussmeier playing in the SECCG. So tell me again, how is Howard going to pass Nussmeier.

Agreed. I heard Howard’s camp MADE SURE he would be redshirted. So I don’t understand the gripe?

Do these kids not understand that when they come to a school, there are other players there? Most every freshman qb not starting in the country probably ran scout this year. This isn’t mistreatment.

Not getting a fair shot is well, not fair.

If he is the better player he should get the nod

He is asking for 2nd string, not starter

Separate from the rest of the offense not from the entire team. The scout team runs the other teams plays against the defense.

It’s not out of the ordinary for your 3rd string QB to be the scout team QB.

I know what scout team is and what they do. I also know what the post I responded to said.

We may be on the same page. I think Walker will get a fair shot at QB2 in Spring practice. Will he pass Nuss for QB2, that I don’t know. If he doesn’t and Nuss stays, then yes, I would expect Walker to leave as he wouldn’t have a path to starting for a couple of more years.

If he was better than Nuss, he would have had the mop up duties this past season. I’m not saying he won’t be, but to act like a coach the caliber of BK is out here playing favorites and not giving a 5 star QB “a fair shot” is insane.

JD going to draft with Nuss and Walker on roster is the best case scenario for the program moving forward.

JD with Howard as backup is the optimal situation for LSU.

How is that much different then JD with Nuss as backup? The two are only one year apart.

I mean yeah in the day of the trasnfer portal players aren't going to want to sit and wait for multiple years anymore. Someone probably will end up leaving

I find it hard to believe that we have a scout team practicing separate from the rest of the team. That would be a legitimately retarded thing to do.

LSU has 4 practice fields. I’m sure they use multiple at a time and it’s probably what he is referring to.
I would imagine they have times in practice where the 1st and 2nd teams are doing one thing while the scout team is doing something else.

There is no shot we end up with all 3 QB’s after spring. It’s likely that whoever gets relegated to scout team is gone and Rickie Collins will take over that job.

Walker and his family just wants a fair shot for second string if Daniels and Nuss are back next year.

The mindset should have been to come in last Spring and compete, letting everything fall wherever his play landed him.

The point of the OP is if he’s running scout team on a separate field, he’s not getting the chance to earn playing time

If the scout team offense is going to simulate the opposing teams offense, they actually have to spend some time learning what they are supposed to simulate.

He requested a redshirt. He’ll get his shot next year.

They did tell the staff they wanted him to RS last year.

That’s the issue.

Please let him RS, but also let him prepare like he’s competing for game snaps? How many teams have time to get a 3rd string guy prepared with the practice limitations set forth by the NCAA?
