Hard to trust any 102 but it was all over Twitter. He was sitting 97-98 mph in the CUSA tourney

His slider has a 56% whiff as well, 2nd best rate in the country

Legit 102mph? I didnt hear that. Crazy

That had to come from a hot gun. When USM played at Middle Tennessee this year, their gun had him at 104 lol.

Waldrep sits 95-97 and hits 98 or 99 now and then. He has filthy stuff with that velo, slider and a splitter that he uses like a change up. He struggles to locate from time to time. When he has command, he’s a rough ride for a hitter.

I expect Waldrep to pitch Saturday. There isn’t much difference in how effective Hall, Riggins and Waldrep are, just different styles. Riggins has been the best of the three the last 3 weekends.

LSU should win this regional, without any doubt. Our line up is filthy.

Should win? i can agree with this.
No doubt? I don’t think so at all.

The lineup is great but if the Southern Miss pitchers are on then they can shut down the lineup. Not like this lineup hasn’t gone weekends where they struggled.

If great pitching brings their A game they will shut down great hitting 10 out of 10 times.

I’m trying to be optimistic here and y’all keep bringing me down.

I’m well aware of how inconsistent we have been. BUT I feel really good about this weekend.

I actually feel the same way. I would be way more nervous had LSU went to a regional that the host was a great hitting team over a great pitching team. This lineup has the talent to make even the best pitchers pay when they don’t have their best stuff.

I tried to convince a friend I was at the game with that the gun couldn't possibly be correct but he wasn't having it.

The only time he started his #1 in the first game of this format was when he was facing Ben Sheets on the other side.

That was 1999 and LSU was the 2 seed playing the 3 seed. So it’s not the same as a 1 throwing their ace against the 4.

Starting pitchers throwing 100...where are they finding these kids?

Better question is where are they find these radar guns.

Might be Waldrep but Riggins has been hot, by far their best pitcher lately

Skip Bertman philosophy…win the one today. Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow

Bertman or not it’s a dumb strategy to blindly do that.

Don’t know enough about Army or USM to say it’s a bad move in this case.

Skip didn't throw his ace against 4 seeds. With good reason. It makes no sense to do so.

Just read three pages and everyone is divided on if Hall going against Army is a good thing or a bad thing for LSU. I’m confused, a first team AA arm according to collegiate baseball in Hall that we could avoid spells trouble for LSU because of who Southern Miss has waiting in the wings?

They have 2 studs and a 3rd really good arm.

Its 6 of 1 half dozen of the other. Maybe USM woulda thrown #3 vs Army and slip up?

I remember in 2009, when we had Ranaudo and Coleman, we started Austin Ross in game 1 against Southern. It worked out fine. If USM has a good third arm, I'm not sure why they should be scared or hesitant to throw him against Army.

Army doesn't suck, and USM has three really good arms. They have to throw one of them. I don't think they are losing anything tomorrow by throwing this guy today. You could also pull him early if you're cruising and run him out there again on Monday if it came to that.

Good problem to have for USM. Their pitching is set up to win a regional, even out of the losers. LSU's perceived approach of slugging its way to the Supers rarely works out. LSU is going to need pitchers to step up in a big way.

From a USM fan’s perspective - I think Waldrep and Riggins are better matchups vs LSU than Hall. Waldrep strikes out tons and Riggins gets a bunch of ground balls.

Hall’s weakness is he can get hit if he leaves it up in the zone like he has a few times in his last couple starts. Guys like Crews and Berry don’t miss mistakes.

Tomorrow night should be electric.

PM finished his career at LSU holding the vendetta against other ZHS kids because he was butt hurt over Von Rosenberg going pro.

I agree

I have had Waldrep pegged as the “big game” guy since early in the year. I believe his stuff plays the best vs top tier competition
