This one hurts me a lot because I just want to be relevant LSU Men's Basketball.
We have so many drive-by fans that care more about "streetball" and paying out a wife's pocket than actually care about winning on the court.

I hope somehow he makes me look foolish and turns out to be a great coach, I just want to win. The only problem is I don’t see anything that leads me to believe he can win at this level.
Being blind and moving the goal posts is nonsense... for me.

that just isn’t true. A few of these guys are good players. Cook and Wright both were good players in good leagues. Baker and Stewart haven’t necessarily played as good competition but are not bad players. I’m not saying he’s put together a tournament team, because some of these guys need to prove they can play in the SEC, but it’s not like the roster is worse than last year. We will likely have more productivity from our guards and less from the forwards. Without seeing these guys play I would guess we are a 6-7 win team. Which is bad, but not as bad as last year.

It’s a lack of understanding college basketball and how recruiting works. And that’s fine, not everybody follows it closely but shouting down every discussion about it and just blaming the players for everything is foolish.

Setting the bar at 2 SEC wins and last place in SEC (14/14) only hitting up 6-7 SEC wins in second season is nonsense.

100 percent
I would love nothing more than for CMM to prove me wrong and win with his lack of recruiting and boring personality. I just see no evidence that he has what it takes to win in the sec.
It’s like Woody just looked at a resume and didn’t interview him.
MM doesnt fit the mold of a sec winner.

Is it just me or is CMM just loading up on La transfer players who weren’t good enough to recruit out of high school? You can’t compete in the sec like this.
How is he supposed to lure top out of state prospects to come to BR?
Free boudin?
It certainly won’t be the title hype, the crowds, the recent NBA draft successes, or the safe and exciting BR lifestyle that draws them.

Mid major coach with a mid major roster coming right up!

We had all of those things until Woodward and McMahon killed them.

What are these sanctions you speak of.
If you need and excuse, just make up one.

I think 3 things could help. 1) he needs a Butch Pierre type assistant whose only purpose is recruiting. Someone with ties to the Houston or Dallas area’s probably. 2) he needs a GM for the portal. 3) he needs to go seek out the major donors, who have interest in basketball and build some serious relationships. In the NIL world, it only takes 1 class to change your fortune. If he could raise $500k to $1 mil, and get the right guys in, he can survive this. It would change the whole perception of his program.
Short of that, he’ll be done after year 3 when the buyout drops significantly

But hey we’re winning rrrr losing with honor now so it’s all good …

The McLoser defenders go to seems to be but Woody hired BK,Kim and JJ.
Never mind woody has blown at picking basketball coaches his entire career as an AD

As far as I can tell, he's trying to build some type of culture at least around the program which he probably had nothing of last year and maybe part of why that team was as bad as it was. It certainly didnt seem like a terrible team at first (some tight non conference games, but beat Wake, lost to KSU in a fluky way, beat Ark and barely lost @ UK to start conf play) then a few games into conference play everything fell apart.
Just seemed like nobody really wanted to be here, so I think he believes by going out and getting kids wanting to come home and play for LSU he'll at least have guys willing to play hard start to finish.
I do believe the talent assembled through portal is mostly a net upgrade last year (not by a lot though), the latest guy being pretty meh more roster filler type, but I agree it is a little weird 4/5 transfers we've gotten has a LA tie. I mean it's good to have some and bring that in but I also would have swung for the fences a little more than Hunter Dean who in his 4th year of college averaged 8/6 at a mid-major and despite being 6'10 doesnt really provide the rim protection for that size. This was our last guy too since we're self imposing a 1 scholarship reduction which really means we should have swung a little higher IMO.
But basically I see this as a "build a culture" roster for him and he's getting another pass with us self imposing a scholarship reduction this season. I dont know how long McMahon lasts but it really does feel like he's just buying some time, we'll be a little better, but we're hamstrung down a scholarship player, etc...

This is what was so frustrating with letting Wade go. He got it on every level, recruiting, marketing the program, scheduling. As a basketball program we have been wandering in the wilderness for 40 years and it really felt like he was our chance to get out of that.
We are not an established basketball program where you can simply plug and play coaches. It has to be someone who understands all these aspects.
The drive-by fans looking for entertainment between football and baseball season do not get it.
