Why do they need data centers, I was told that they don’t have computers and would not know how to operate them if they did

Jackson had a very similar situation during one of their council meetings just the other night.
I think these people are likely against them for the wrong reasons but governments are giving too much away to get them. A true partnership should benefit both parties; not one over the other.

The level of emotional, propaganda-fueled dialogue surrounding the topic of data centers has shown me just how manipulated these activist leftists have become.
Ask yourself, …. how many of these activists have voluntarily given up their mobile phones?
They, along with millions of others, drive the growth of data centers every hour of every day …. Yet nary a one gives up their devices, eh?

"Governments" aren't giving away any more to data center developers than they give to any other company that brings jobs and investment to a community. Mississippi state law allows for up to a 66% reduction of ad valorem taxes for 10 years, for any economic development project with an investment exceeding $60 MM. the 33% of taxes they're left paying is still waaaayyyyyy more money for a community than they'd ever get for it being raw land or a smaller development that doesn't exceed the $60 MM threshold. A typical $10 B data center is gonna bring in about $150 MM PER YEAR to a community, to be split between the school district, the county, and a municipaly (if it's located within one). Ignorant people don't realize that the data center is going to go somewhere. And if they choose to reject it being built in their community, that doesn't mean that project won't be built somewhere else. People are turning away life changing revenue that could vastly improve rotting communities that have no other sources of revenue. And they use less water than a golf course uses. The myth about how much water they use is a Facebook propaganda myth. Put um in remote areas away from neighborhoods and let the revenue flow to your community. Think 24/7 365 fire academy trained fire departments in rural areas that now have volunteer fire departments. That could lower your home owners insurance by 45-50%. Think asphalt smooth roads in areas now that can only afford rock and tar roads. Think nice parks and ball fields. Think senior services like senior daycare and transportation. Think about your community having the revenue to give a college scholarship to every graduating student that wants to go to college.

Incorrect. Typically 500 MW data center will have about 200 - 250 permanent employees. The jobs aren't the issue. It's the massive revenue it brings in to communities via fee-in-lieu of tax agreements. Lot of revenue without having to build lots of new infrastructure, roads, traffic, or stress schools
