playing on the road against a future HOF coach with a talented and HEALTHY roster was the best coach on the floor tonight for his team to even come within three points of the heavily favored opponent.
That will look great on his resume, he’ll have no trouble landing a top tier job when he is mercifully relieved of his duties in Baton Rouge in the coming weeks.

I bet his agent’s phone is already blowing up.

Two of the last 4 possessions we called a TO. On those possessions we ended up with Nwoko at the FT line and Tamba clanking a 3 off the side of the backboard. Max didn’t touch the ball either time.

I’m a HS coach. If I’ve got a kid who’s scored 20 in the second half, he’s getting the ball coming out of a TO.
You, sir, are a coach that makes sense to me.

Hey, I’m all for looking at each game with nuance. We’ve seen the effort the boys have brought. I even spotted Coach Mac the first two years when others refused to.

But when you have players out, you gotta be flexible. And you have to adjust. I’ve seen our boys play with heart but the defensive calls and lack of adjustment, and explicable rotations — there’s just no excusing it.

I’m not dog piling on CMM. Just calling it like I see it. This time is playing hard and CMM isn’t supporting them with the subs in terms of players or alignment that is needed. And it has gotten exposed in almost every close game the last two years.

Yes, Texas was playing Max close in the last few minutes, but good coaches recognize that and DO SOMETHING.

They were doubling Max much of the second half, so what? You still get him the ball. If he’s doubled, that means you have 3 guarding 4 on the rest of the court. It creates opportunity.

People will talk about the offense. But where McMahon lost this game was on the defensive end.
Apologies for a quick cutoff, but we all talked back in Oct/Nov that defense was going to be the #1 issue this season, even fully healthy.

To your point, they're is no adjustment by CoachMc today. It was prime opportunity to scheme, zone up with foul trouble, etc.

I only saw the second half (thank god). In the positive side: another amazing outing from Max, Reece continues to surprise me, King plays better each game.

Negatives: why was Maizy on the bench? How have we gone four years without any pressure on the inbounds when we are down by three four or five with minutes left in every game?? Tamba can’t take that shot. And why does Mike miss so many important hooks in the second half of every game??

88-85.

Another McMoral victory for the McMA's.

I guess that's not a "Bag Worthy" loss huh?

That's not good coaching

Really coach Mc was in a no-win situation. Miller Sutton, and another Tiger had fouled out already. Scrubs on the floor, with Mackinnon and Nwoko trying to maintain order.

What’s crazy is 15-61 in SEC play yet he doesn’t change anything. I’ve never even heard of a coach being this oblivious.

Alt has been consistent about this for two years. When CMM gets fired, and I predict it will happen (just a gut feeling, no sauces), it’s gonna be because he can’t coach defense and seems clueless when it comes to lineups and offensive schemes.

He's almost always in a no-win.

All I'll say is that we were already getting into foul trouble and didn't adjust. To me, that's coaching too. I think Dom quoted earlier that men don't live in the present.

I will take that and CoachMc didn't see where to foul trouble was going.

He has 7 viable and healthy players and the game was not officiated the same on both ends of the court. What the hell else could he do. He got on a couple of them for senseless fouls. The Texas center should have been in foul trouble by halftime and their guards were constantly bumping Reece and Mckinnon.
