May be an unpopular opinion but...
#1 - Joe or his reps should be responding and not leaving these people in the dark. No real excuse for that and I’m surprised by it to be honest.
#2 - Unless he had a really good reason, I think he should be there. If his reason is just “I’m tired of going to awards banquets” I think it’s something he might look back on 5, 10 years from now and regret having not attended.
It says that Chase Young will be there for the Bednarik Award. Not a great look when the other college player shows up and you don’t.

He reason is probably more needing to get back to football to get ready for his pro day and workouts with teams for the draft than just being tired of the banquets.

Right. This is the issue. Don’t say you are coming then fail to confirm you’re not when you decide not too.
Just a general principle in life. Maxwell award or an everyday appointment.

I’ve been surprised Joe made as many banquets as he did. He won nearly every award, that’s a lot of weekends spent going to banquets.

They thought of him highly enough to honor him with this very prestigious award. Being the ONE GUY in history to not attend is kind of a big deal.
Seems like he caught many off guard with this decision- including his family.
This is a big bridge to burn, in college football. At least offer an explanation, man.

Why are these people having this banquet so damn late. It's March 6 and LSU's pro day is on the 22nd. They need to get their head out of their realize that this guy has way more important things to worry about.

Simple solution.... Give the award to the second place finisher.

As much as I hate to say it Joe really should attend this event if even for an hour.
I am sure he is probably in Az or Ca but a private plane can get him there and back quickly.

lol no kidding! So these guys setup an award, a gala, the whole nine yards and never bothered to see if Joe even wanted to go? Is that how it works? Anybody can dictate where Joe is going to be at any given moment by simply creating an event and putting his name on the bill and Joe is automatically required to appear.
So I’m going to have the first annual Tigertex Award for whatever he feels like giving an award for and guess who has won it? Joe Burrow! I’m giving the award at the Luby’s down the street and he’d better be there or else I’m coming back here to throw a hissy fit!

That's a great point. However, most people who are questioning Joe are curious about the non-response, not the decision to skip.
