I agree. you can tell that Max learned a lot of the nuances of playing QB from his dad. But that doesn'y mean that there aren't throws that Brennan or TJ or Nuss can/do make that Max can't.

For instance, Brennan used the whole field and was pretty dominant at throwing deep over the middle. I'm not sure that E even allowed either Max or TJ to look over the middle past 15 yards. This isn't necessarily a negative on Max if he wasn't allowed to make those throws but it does tell you how the coaches feel about each of the QBs mental development this past season.

Serious question, why are so many of you people on here so loyal to Brennan? I get it he stuck it out and waited but at the end of the day LSU has to go with the guy who not only is better right now but we can build on for the next 2+ seasons. Stop denying that Max & Boutte can be something BIG brewing. Similar to Joe & Chase if handled correctly

Yeah well Brandon Harris threw a good deep ball too. You see where I’m going with this? Good quarterbacks don’t lose to mizzou and Mississippi state. We were winning in the second half of both of those games and Brennan blew our chances to put the game away thus letting these teams back into the games. Blame it on defense all you want but we should have won those. He’s timid.

We took the read option out because we had 2 freshmen backups that probably didn't know 1/3 of the playbook. That won't be the case next year.

You lose all credibility by trying to compare Brennan to Harris. While Brennan does have some faults, Harris barely knew the rules to football.

A little bit too much "analysis" from wyatt. But yeah, I think max is our qb for sure going into next season.

Dude Flordia beat them selves throwing a shoe ok

Well, it made it easier for LSU to win, but Florida didn't have the lead when he tossed the shoe and still had a chance at the end and shanked a FG while our guy nailed a 57-yarder in the fog at The Swamp. LSU was just better that night in the end.

Read my last sentence. I believe Max should be your starter.

So if Myles starts you expect more designed QB runs?

Dude he ran full speed into a linebacker. Soft body my arse. Max Johnson would be dead.

He is also a freshman and Brennan has been here for 5 years. Brennan had a deer in the headlights look in the first game.

Brennan did for a half but then he got it together and played really well for the other 10 quarters he played.

You must also add that Brennan was following Burrow with the weight of the world on his shoulders as the fanbase expected to be in the playoff hunt again.

Max, on the other hand, took over after TJ struggled and the team was 3-5. There was little pressure to be good cuz most of the fanbase just accepted that we would lose out. He did play extremely well and I am not trying to overshadow that but it wasn't the same situation at all.

I expect we will put the read and option back into the read option....and hopefully take advantage of what the defense is giving a la Joe Burrow's one or two runs a game.

Why didn't we do that before, if Myles is so capable of running as you say?

He's not. I'm pulling for him, love his arm, he's a solid pro-style prospect. A mobile, read option-savvy QB is not at all what he is and it's okay to point that out. Doesn't mean he sucks.

It’s obvious most on this board don’t want true QB competition for fear of Brennan possibly leaving. Wasn’t this a knock on Miles. Maybe we all have a little of Les in us.

Maybe you need reading comprehension cuz I haven't seen anyone who is pro Brennan say they discourage a competition. Matter of fact, its the Pro Max camp that seems afraid that Brennan might win the job back.

Pro Brennan camp: "We think Brennan is good but of Max wins out then he will have earned the job."

Pro Max camp: "Max is the GOAT and Brennan is basically Brandon Harris."

I’m just glad Callaway is still here to continue coaching him up ... they’ve obviously got a long history and a strong bond they can keep building on.

Nope! He’s gone now, and it’s bittersweet bc he really loved LSU and made a big difference in the QBs during a very tough year, but he got screwed when he was told so many things. Joe Judge sees his talent. I wish him all the best!

That’s not true at all. We took the read option out of the playbook when Myles was QB because he was zero threat of keeping the ball.

How can you have a read option when the defense is on top of you as soon as you get the ball.
There were no lanes in which to run, early in the season.

Watch Brennan highlights from 2019 then tell me he can't run.
He also has the quickest release of any QB we have had in years.
I'm not saying who is better, but he can play. Its up to the coaching staff.
I wouldn't be surprised no matter who takes the field vs UCLA
