I believe Myles throws a better deep ball, but not by much. Other than that, Max is just better.

I personally believe that Brennan is still the guy. Max was incredible this year but his numbers don't look like Brennan's do even though he played in twice as many games.

This is not to bash Max as I think he will likely win the job after Brennan. That is unless Nuss is the real fricking McCoy.

I LOVE Nuss as a prospect and hate that he (probably) has to wait behind Max to get his shot.

What a wonderful problem for LSU to have.

that potential is putting up great stats and losing 2/3 games against bottom feeder SEC teams

Those losses had nothing to do with the defense giving up 40+ point in each game huh?

I live in Metairie but I tell people who are not from the area that I am from New Orleans. Not because I am trying to be a poser but because New Orleans is easily recognizable to everyone as a reference point while Metairie is not. I say New Orleans and they know exactly where to point on the map to know where I am from. If I say Metairie, they have no clue where that is in Louisiana.

That should have been expected considering how long he’s been in the program and that he had a year longer with the playbook snd overall offensive system. And Myles is a really talented QB. I think a lot of our fans don’t see it because of how good Joe was in 2019. No one can follow that act.

I really like Brennan and was very impressed with the way he bounced back from a bad first half vs State. That said, he’s going to have a fight on his hands to start in 21, especially if he isn’t healthy enough to practice in the spring. Johnson has good mechanics, he’s smart and he’s mobile enough to make a defense pay.

If the new staff turns him loose, I think Johnson is capable of putting up similar or better stats than Brennan if he can get more control on his deep balls. It isn’t that he has no arm strength. He just doesn’t have the same accuracy and consistency going long that he has on the shorter throws yet. If Max improves that over the off-season, then Myles may not get the job back.

Throw in Nuss as an EE and you have the biggest and best LSU QB battle in over a decade. That’s good for us no matter who wins out.

This post is the most accurate description of our current QB situation in this thread.

Nuss looks like he has all the tools and I think he's absolutely a future starter, but he will still be recovering from a hand injury (non-throwing) and needs time in the S&C to be able to absorb SEC level hits.

Yea it just kinda sucks for him that 2021 will be either MB or MJ, 2022 will be MJ (especially if he starts 2021), and then he maybe starts in 2023 IF MJ goes pro. Thats best case scenario and worst case is that he sees the glut and transfers or that Max takes his 5th year since he will technically be a freshman again and Nuss doesn't start until 2025.

And thats not even mentioning Walker Howard and Possibly Manning or Holstein.

True but we are also going to be back to the backup being the best quarterback on the roster for half the fan base. The more things change the more they stay the same.
whoever comes out on top, this spring is going to be a very, very good quarterback.

if brennan, then Johnson/Nuss/TJ will get another year to mature physically/emotionally and learn the playbook.

if anyone else, the other two frosh will....well....get another year to mature physically/emotionally and learn the playbook.

this is all good news.

First world problems. Tough but refreshing. Nuss reminds me of Aaron Rodgers from his playing days at Cal. Will he develop into what Rodgers has become? We'll see. Aaron was a 3 star slim built guy with a lot of mobility and moxie. Nuss fits that bill, but comes much higher rated out of HS.

Absolutely it's the reason they lost. Those weren't on Brennan.

I wasn't necessarily agreeing that Brennan should lose the starting job... especially due to injury, but yea he should have a short leash all year imo.
If he starts overthrowing receivers or can't scramble when a play breaks down, Max needs to see the field.

I’m not a fan of short leashes for QBs. It makes them tense up and be afraid to make throws in tight windows. They fear any mistake will get them benched so they don’t take any chances and you end up with a QB holding the ball too long, making throws late, and double clutching.

They need to have a true competition in the spring and fall and whoever wins the job gets treated as the only starter, not the starter until we bring in the other starter.

Now if you have one QB completely shite the bed the. You make a switch but you don’t make the switch until you’re sure you’d rather have the other guy for the rest of the year.

I said it when it happened that the first throw to jenkins in the endzone was a thing of beauty.

He is the only qb on the roster who makes that throw.

Max johnson is a hell of a qb

Because there are a lot of vocal dick bags that want to just hand the job to Miles Brennan simply because he is a senior and he's been at LSU. Somehow in their minds that means he deserves something.

If you read this thread there are just as many vocal dick bags that want to just hand the job to Max Johnson cuz he played well against a bad Florida defense and an Ole miss defense that made ours look like world beaters.

This whole thread should say nothing but we have 2-4 good QBs and we as fans can't wait to see which one wins the QB battle in the Spring and fall.
