My sister played basketball for Denham Springs. Hammond High was in our district and my family got to watch her as a senior. Denham Springs made it to the Sweet Sixteen in Alexandra also that year. What a great show Kim put on during that week. We were able to watched her win the AAAA State Championship. My family was so impressed with her that we have closely followed her career ever since. My mom and dad think she is the greatest woman basketball player from Louisiana. I got to meet her at a Baylor football game and she remembered how hard it was to beat Denham Springs and she even named the two All District players from Denham Springs that year.

She played exactly like John Stockton.

In 1980 I dated Kim. But then I woke up.

NLU’s Eun Jung Lee was Mulkey’s rival back in the day. Korean born point guard had Mulkey’s skills at the point but was a better scorer. Epic matchups back in the 80’s

I was a ball boy at ulm/nlu in the 80s and was on the floor for several top 10 (or 5) matches between the them and LA TECH. Kim Mulkey was one of the best if not the best PG to ever do it. (EJ LEE was pretty incredible also). Van lith is great. But a LONG way to go for her to be considered in line with the best to ever do it.

Mulkey was a true field general, hands down.

Grew up with season tickets to Lady Techsters and saw damn near every home game Mulkey played at Tech. She was the best women’s point guard I ever saw until Theresa Weatherspoon came along. I would still take Mulkey though. She was an incredible leader, in your face competitor and pushed those teams to greatness.
Van Lith is fantastic but she ain’t Kim. Would love her to come here and prove me wrong.

No you didn’t.
Apparently Harry Morgan couldn’t even be bothered to read the second sentence.

I was in junior high in Monroe but my sister was playing high school ball and she and her teammates went to virtually every Lady Techsters home game. I tagged along for a few.

outside of Olympics were any women’s games on TV?
Monroe TV aired both Tech and NLU ladies' games regularly.
I've only seen highlights of HVL but Mulkey played every minute with a Michael Jordan level of fanatical intensity that's seldom been matched in the men's or women's game.

Ben Simmons could score, but that doesn’t mean he was worth a shite. It’s always about everything that you do not just one thing you do. LeWho (aka Lebron) who wasn’t even worried he be calling an all time great until he blocked the shot on against the Warriors to win the title.
Mulkey just led and won. All she knows how to do is WIN.

I've seen both play. I'd say Van Lith is definitely a better scorer in college. In terms of the consumate point guard, however, the edge goes to Mulkey.

Mulkey was a far better point, Van Lith is a better outside shooter
Ultimately, I believe this is why HVL comes here, she wants to be more of
a playmaker and not the #1 scoring option. I believe she threw now that her
future is more of a true point that can hit the 3
