Not as good as Mulkey. She was a literal force on the floor. Endless energy and incredible competitor.

Their styles are different as the systems they played in and game were different. Both intense, both complete...Mulkey was beyond question the HC on the floor.

The women's game back in the day were more sedate and conservative. The athleticism of today's game is unreal

:kige:

You can see old tape of Kim on YouTube. The game was much different. There was a lot less physicality.

But you can plainly see that Kim was a force on the court much as HVL.

Van Lith is the better overall player IMO.

Mulkey was a great floor general and really good passer.

Why do you think this? Explain how the person that went back to back titles without question the best player on the floor.

How many people here really saw KM play unless they went to La Tech? outside of Olympics were any women’s games on TV?

In their respective times (era), both are dominant!

Mulkey:
4 state championships
2 NC’s 4 Final Fours at La Tech
1 Gold Medal in 1984 Olympics

Van Lith:

the women's Final Four was. I remember watching Mulkey run around with those pigtails. My family were LaTech grads so it was a big deal. I was mesmerized by her. Not like TigerProphet mesmerized. Well, ok a little. Made me feel like I was climbing the rope in gym class.

I grew up in Ruston and saw her play a few times. She was really good. I can't speak for VL though. I've never watched her play. I don't think I've ever even watched women's basketball outside of LSU and LATech in my entire life.

Guard play IS ABSOLUTELY required for championships. She ran everything. You can watch videos and still not see how great she was. UNBELIEVABLE TALENT.
4 straight state titles before college.

1982 was the first NCAA Women’s tournament, before that the AIAW was the NC. Per wiki the 1981 AIAW, which LT won the title game was on NBC.

Only a handful of men’s regular season games were in TV back then

It was a totally different era but what does it matter anyway? Van Lith is one of the top players now
