Ridiculous contract given to McMahon by Woodward.
Many on here praise Woodward; it's insane the contract he gave McMahon and now we are stuck with him for a long time. All Woodward does is throw insane money at various coaches. Look what he did to A&M with Jimbo. He may have lucked out with B Kelly and J Johnson, but so far, it's pretty clear he bombed completely with McMahon.

How is using context so hard for some people? The circumstance of LSU hiring McMahon is not like other situations. McMahon held pretty much all the contract negotiation leverage. Other schools wanted McMahon (I know hard to believe but it’s true). If LSU identified Matt as someone they thought could be a really good long term fit then it makes sense. In order for LSU to secure his signature against other teams interviewing him it was going to take security for McMahon with length and protection against his inability to recruit/compete with any level 1 sanctions and being able to keep his job through all those things. He tells Woodward what he wants and in this scenario, Woodward doesn’t really have a choice (if he thinks he is a good fit), given no proven coach at a sitting P5 school was going to take the job. Hard situation to be in if your SW.
Now, McMahon may not work out. You don’t hit on every hire but that’s a different conversation. The contract he got is what any coach was getting with the uncertainty.

I agree, but would add CKM to that mix, even though it's women's ball. I mean, she's what, 49-6 after taking over a team that finished next to last and averaged 53 points a game.
I can live with that, so I say Woodward has demonstrably gone 3 for 4 so far, and we'll have to see how things go with the men's team. I personally have faith in CMM to turn things around pretty quickly.

Hey drizz...I have seen so much talk about CMM and his tenure length at LSU, I just thought some basics about his contract would be of interest to some on this board. The figures I posted are not exact, but they give all of us an idea of what it could cost LSU to fire him.
I really like WW and thought he was exactly what LSUMBB needed to right itself. But I am trying to support what CMM is doing but it is not easy.
