Because he lost the same amount of games, threw more picks, less TDs, less yards, and completed fewer passes. Oh, and because he was behind JR on the depth chart the year before.

Makes perfect sense.

Yeah, cause stats mean everything.

Both Flynn and Russell had a pretty good team around them. Clearly Russell had the bigger arm, Flynn was niftier with his feet.

The question comes down to leadership and decision making. Probably in these categories, Russell was the better leader, Flynn the better decision maker.

Both guys showed real verve in some games. Russell was probably the more disappointing of the two because there were a couple games in his LSU career in which you thought that a different decision might have lead to a W instead of an L (Auburn/Florida/Georgia) and as a result a shot at the National Championship. But that is football baby.

No way we win a NC with JR at QB. Imagine JR trying to learn Crowton's scheme in less than a year.

Interesting how this topic can still generate a multi page thread.

Are you saying that in reference to JR? If so, it means a couple of double digit win seasons for the Tigers and quite a few millions of dollars for JR as a pro.

Which means JR is better than Peyton Manning because he has a stronger arm.

JR was all about JR. Was not much of a fan when I saw him walking down the hill with the team wearing a pink suit and white shoes. Why? So he could stand out.

JR cared and still cares about JR.

Flynn > JR

Yes, he played for LSU. Yes, he was good. However, he will never excel because he is too focused on himself. He will be fat and bankrupt in the next 10 years.

signed,

I'd say Flynn was better

But you're not comparing apples to apples because Flynn played as a 5th year senior and JR didn't.

In spite of the talent gap between Flynn and Russell (Russell>>>>>Flynn), Flynn may well end up staying on an NFL roster longer than Russell.

I hope JR turns it around and he we always be one of my favorite LSU players. BUT, if he doesn't have some kind of attitude adjustment I think he will fade into obscurity and the only time we will see him is on one of those "biggest busts" documentaries that are shown on the NFL network, amongst other famous college players like Ryan Leaf, Kyle Bosworth, and Tony Mandarich.

Is there a particular play that you can point to while at LSU that Russell made or didn't make that would lead you to believe that he was playing strictly for himself and not to lead his team to a win...or is your opinion based solely on fashion?

personally I think the records in 06 & 07 would have been about the same with either starting. I would've liked to have seen a few design plays for Flynn (run/pass options) in 06. Could have made a difference in the Auburn game that year.

the primary differences between the 2 were size and arm strength...other than that they were fairly comparable. JR had throws he made better, and Flynn had some he made better. Flynn was probably better on designed runs, but Russell could scramble pretty well.

Retard

Flynn won us championships b/c of LUCK. We were lucky that there was no team in the West with 1 conference loss. We were lucky b/c OU beat Mizzou and Pitt beat WV on the last day of the season. We were lucky in 2007.
