I respectfully disagree. He has a great gig. Five years in NFL active roster = retirement. Plus, I'm pretty sure the Packers were incentivized(sp?) as a team for the SB. I wish him luck :geaux:

Some team could get Flynn as their starter then take a chance on JR as his backup.

back up in the NFL is the best job in the world, imo! Get paid a ton of money to work out and pick up chicks, $$$$!

it's a great gig, but he'd make a lot more money as a starting quarterback

No competitor in the world is looking for a retirement check.

True, but I guarantee you Flynn isn't sitting at his house in Wisconsin thinking, "damn, I hope I don't get the chance to start. Not getting playing time is awesome."

If Flynn is good enough to start they will trade him for a good pick. That's the way it goes when you develop a good back up.

Is he less likely to be able to retire as a starter?

strange logic there

I don't know but im sure he wants to be a name in NFL history, just like every kid who plays football dreams of doing. Retirement check is cool and all, but I'd bet the dude wants his shot

MF is definitely a competitor, but let's not forget that this is not his decision. The Packers will probably deal him because they can get a second rounder. That could be short sighted for a number of reasons. Aaron Rogers is incredibly talented, but he suffered two concussions last season. There is a case to be made that Green Bay should keep MF and pay him like Buffalo's old backup Frank Reich. From Flynn's perspective, who would want to start for Miami, San Fran, Seattle, Carolina etc. Washington may be his best bet. Most of those teams are years away....

Not the 49ers. They are one solid QB away from being a very good team.
