Canada's offense would work well at Rice given the type of Athletes they recruit, but Baliff's biggest issue was his inability to recruit worth a shite. Once he lost people like Herman that were strong recruiters for him, the team went to total shite.

Canada could do well there, and its a low pressure job at that.

Also, if Canada has aspirations of being a head coach one day, this is the best way to get there and have an opportunity to learn.

Look at what is happening to PJ Fleck up in Minnesota (which is not even a top tier program). Going to a small school/mid-tier) like Rice would give him time to grow as a head coach with less pressure and then move on up.

what rapid decline are you talking about?

The kind of rapid decline that started to happen when O admittedly meddled with the offense in the Troy game. Thankfully (this year) it was stopped by a meeting with Alleva, and turned into success.

Can’t count on an Ensminger type standing up to O like Canada obviously did (or just told Alleva).

Canada leaving sucks. Our offense was really cool. We ran a triple option on a 2 point play

If he gets hired elsewhere is there a buyout? He has 2 years and $3,000,000 dollars remaining on his contract. I don't think any small conf. school is going to be willing to pay a huge buyout for him. LSU would almost have to waive it in order to get people interested in Canada.

It sounds like Canada wants to leave and LSU wants him to go. The money is the hang-up. LSU wants someone to take him AND pay the buyout. Canada wants to go, but he doesn't want to forego the $3,000,000 he's owed without having a HC job to go to.

If you had an employee actively seeking employment elsewhere would you keep him/her?

Canada is not as intelligent as I thought he was if he takes the rice job. it's a career killer and pay cut. I don't care if you hate Bat Rouge, Orgeron's siracha slaw, BR traffic, etc...you don't just take a pay cut and take a head coaching job at a dead end program

Well fk him and the horse he rode in on. If he doesn't want to be here GTFO...but you don't get your cake and eat it too.

Turning our offense around will be a faster track to the big programs than getting Rice bowl eligible.

sure, why keep someone from trying to better themselves? sometimes it pays off in that the individual leaves, gains valuable experience in their field and eventually comes back as a better employee, current CEO of my employer is an example, pretty closed minded to think that just because a person may presently work for me it is the best position in the world for him/her, me, and always will be, and they should never consider looking toward the future

Lane Kiffin just took a huge pay cut.

He went from 1.4 to 1 million.

And he only made 1.4 for one season at bama. He made 714,00 the other years
