Maybe not the best example on my part lol

That being said, Cam didn’t do anything to contribute to that in the postseason

Paz was one of the pitchers Jay was talking about specifically as being an anchor of the pitching staff

Anchor of the staff? Really?

Potential? A lot, but definitely not a sure thing. He was not a reliable arm. Not yet anyway.

When you say the same thing about Alec Blair, people here get really upset.

Wasn’t he a freshman? Not sure why that’d matter much.

I’m in the middle on this one. Wanted him to stay because he has a ton of talent. But wasn’t as impressed with him as many others seem to be. Going to A&M sucks.

Same. You have to toss out the high school rankings and look at it rationally. You see a guys like Rizy & Cooper Williams heavily regress under Yeskie in Year 2 and didn't have a ton of hope for Paz next year given his extreme lack of control.

and yet the staff led the nation in Ks.
It isn’t a one or other. Terrible defense helped them also lose confidence. It isn’t that hard to understand when a pitcher gets into a mindset they need to be perfect how that impacts them. They also are all trying to master other pitchers and some take longer than others. Throwing it in practice isn’t the same as coming in with the bases loaded and trying to throw it.

Johnson tried bringing in both at different times with men on base and at the beginnings of innings. Both of them completely lost confidence. It happens.
Yeskie didn’t forget how to coach or call pitches. This is about the mental game as much as it is the physical. Probably more for a reliever.

Then there is the whole sophomore slump which is absolutely a thing for some ie you’re far more on your own than freshman year.

Paz struck out over one an inning. Excellent stat. That’s true.

But you have to put things in context, he walked or hit a batter per inning too. He averaged an earned run per inning. His era was over 9. We had 19 guys pitch. He had the 18th best era.

The potential was there, but he had a long way to go.

Slow down man.
He sucked this year. Maybe he’ll be good next year, maybe not.

"upside" "potential" "talent" "highly touted"

ok that's great. but he's just another guy on staff who throws 95+ who can't throw strikes on a pitching staff who was complete dog shite last season. maybe he develops, maybe he doesn't. jay will replace him with another guy who throws 95+ who will have the same "upside" "potential" and "talent"

move on

Does anybody on here legitimately know if Yeskie is well liked (Or Not) as a Coach and Person by the Pitchers on the roster.

Cam Johnson 2.0

He can throw hard - so what. Who cares if he can’t throw strikes consistently.

He doesn't care about being a Tiger. Thats the way it is with 99% of kids these days.

I agree. If LSU "looses" a player it's no big loss. But if the Tigers "lose" one, I am concerned.
